Lin Sen (; 1868 – August 1, 1943 ), courtesy name Zichao ( 子超 ), sobriquet Changren ( 長仁 ), was Chairman of the National Government of the Republic of China from 1931 until his death.

Lin Shu (, November 8, 1852 — October 9, 1924 ), courtesy name Qinnan ( 琴南 ), was a Chinese man of letters, most famous for his introducing Western literature to a whole generation of Chinese readers, despite his ignorance of any foreign language.

As a judge he took the courtesy title Lord Auchinleck from the name of his estate at Auchinleck House, of which he was the 8th Laird.

As a younger son, he bore the courtesy title " Lord John Russell ", but as he was not a peer in his own right he was entitled to sit in the House of Commons.

Within six years of entering the House of Commons in 1931, Douglas-Home ( then called by the courtesy title Lord Dunglass ) became parliamentary aide to Neville Chamberlain, witnessing at first hand Chamberlain's efforts as Prime Minister to preserve peace through appeasement in the two years before the outbreak of the Second World War.

The courtesy title Lord Dunglass did not carry with it membership of the House of Lords, and Dunglass was eligible to seek election to the House of Commons.

In May, with help from George Villiers, 1st Duke of Buckingham, Montagu was elevated to the House of Lords, receiving his father's barony of Kimbolton and being styled Viscount Mandeville as a courtesy title, since his father had been created earl of Manchester in February when Parliament convened.

The title Duke of Montpensier has been used as a courtesy title by other members of the House of Orléans:

Today, the title is used by the House of Bourbon as a revived courtesy title.

He acquired, says the Encyclopædia Britannica, " a high reputation in the House of Commons for his judicial fairness, combined with singular tact and courtesy.

During the 1990s, he was Leader of the House of Lords under his courtesy title of Viscount Cranborne.

Alice Lisle's husband, Sir John Lisle ( d. 1664 ), had been one of the judges at the trial of Charles I, and was subsequently a member of Cromwell's House of Lords, hence his wife's courtesy title.

He nonetheless insisted on being addressed as " Lord Lambton ", the form of address appropriate to his former courtesy title, though a ruling of the Committee for Privileges said that he should not do so in the House of Commons since he had renounced his peerage.

The title does not entitle the owner to sit in the House of Lords and is the Scottish equivalent to an English squire in that it is not a noble title, more a courtesy title meaning landowner with no other rights assigned to it.

As elected officials, members of the House of Representatives also receive the courtesy title of the Honorable ( abbreviated to Hon.

In exchange, he was created Earl of Tyrone, which was by the charter to descend to his illegitimate son Matthew or Ferdoragh O ' Neill, who was also created Baron of Dungannon, which was always to be held by the heir to the Earldom ; this was a substantive title, which gave Ferdoragh a seat in the Irish House of Lords, not a courtesy title.

On the extinction of the Bourbon-Condé family, her descendants, in 1830, the heirs were the House of Orléans, descendants of Anne's granddaughter's Louise Élisabeth de Bourbon's daughter Louise Henriette de Bourbon, the Duchess of Orleans, and the title of Duke of Guise was used as a courtesy title for members of this family in the nineteenth century, firstly for three sons of Prince Henri, Duke of Aumale, and then for Jean, son of Robert d ' Orléans, Duke of Chartres.

From here on the title became a courtesy title used by the House of Orléans.

Known formally by his courtesy title Viscount Castlereagh and as " Robin " by friends and family, he was an accomplished public speaker and was Unionist Member of Parliament ( MP ) for County Down in the British House of Commons between 1931 and 1945.

One of the early attempts was an electro-mechanical Chinese typewriter Ming kwai () which was invented by Lin Yutang, a prominent Chinese writer.

It is the home of famous writer Lin Yutang, the summer residence of Chiang Kai-shek, residences of foreign diplomats, the Chinese Culture University, the meeting place of the now defunct National Assembly of the Republic of China, and the Kuomintang Party Archives.

Lin Yutang, who had studied at Harvard and Leipzig, introduced the concept of youmo ( humor ), which he used in trenchant criticism of China's political and cultural situation before leaving for the United States.

On the other hand, the popular scholar Lin Yutang cast Wang as the equivalent of communist totalitarian government in his biography of Wang's adversary Su Dongpo.

Lin Yutang ( October 10, 1895 – March 26, 1976 ) was a Chinese writer and inventor.

Lin themed conventions have been organized in Taiwan and Lin's native Fujian, and in December 2011, the International Conference on the Cross-cultural Legacy of Lin Yutang in China and America was held at City University of Hong Kong, with with professional and private scholars from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, the United States, Germany and Slovakia.

The organizer of the conference was Dr. Qian Suoqiao, whose book, Liberal Cosmopolitan: Lin Yutang and Middling Chinese Modernity ( Leiden ; Boston: Brill, 2010 ) was the first ( and still only ) full length academic study of Lin in any language.
