With the Treaty of Belgrade, the Habsburgs ceded the Kingdom of Serbia with Belgrade, the southern part of the Banat of Temeswar and northern Bosnia to the Ottomans, and Oltenia, gained by the Treaty of Passarowitz in 1718, to Wallachia ( an Ottoman subject ), and set the demarcation line to the rivers Sava and Danube.

The Battle of Kosovo in 1389 ( see Ottoman wars in Europe and Serbian – Ottoman wars ) marked the beginning of the fall of the Serbia, and prompted several migrations of Serbs from their lands in the south towards the Christian lands in the north of the Ottoman borders, crossing the Danube and Sava rivers to Central Europe ( today's Vojvodina, Slavonia, Transylvania and Hungary proper ).

Šabac ( Serbian Cyrillic: Шабац, ) is a city in western Serbia, along the Sava river, in the historic region of Mačva.

They were Saint Sava II, Metropolitan of Peć and Archbishop of Serbs, Stefan Vladislav I of Serbia and Stefan Uroš I of Serbia.

Later the icon was offered to St. Sava of Serbia, who gave it to the Hilandar.

Under guardianship of Sava, Studenica became the political, cultural and spiritual center of ´ medieval Serbia.

Sava returns to Serbia in the winter of 1205-06 or 1206-07, and intervenes and reconciles his two brothers, taking the remains of his father with him, which he relocates to the Studenica monastery.

Sava brings the regal crown from Rome, crowning his older brother " King of All Serbia " in the Žiča monastery in 1217, during the rule of Pope Honorius III, owing to skillful diplomacy.

In 1219, Sava published the first constitution in Serbia – St. Sava's Nomocanon ( Zakonopravilo in Serbian ).
