In 1864 William Wallace Mitchell ( 1803 – 1884 ), a Glasgow Cotton Merchant, published his " Manual of Bowls Playing " following his work as the secretary formed in 1849 by Scottish bowling clubs which became the basis of the rules of the modern game.

After the Revolution of 1848 – 1849, the Banat ( together with Syrmia and Bačka ) was made into a separate Austrian crownland known as the Voivodeship of Serbia and Banat of Temeschwar, but, in 1860 this province was abolished and most of its territory was incorporated again into Habsburg Kingdom of Hungary.

In 1848 – 1849 revolution, the town was alternately controlled by the forces of the Kingdom of Hungary and forces of the Serbian Vojvodina.

By combining this nationalism with an insistence on the superiority of the Magyars to the Slavonic inhabitants of Hungary, he sowed the seeds of both the collapse of Hungary in 1849 and his own political demise.

On the downfall of the latter, Löwenthal was expelled from Hungary, and he emigrated to America ( 1849 ).

Francis Joseph I war urged to solve the internal problems of his realm and was well advised to provide a substantial rise to the Hungarian nobility, which had stayed in passive resistance to him after the crushed Hungarian revolution of 1848 and 1849: In the Austro-Hungarian Compromise of 1867 ( Ausgleich ) Hungary was recognized as a self-governing kingdom outside of the Empire of Austria, in exchange for willing to keep the common ruler, army, navy and foreign representation ( Real union ).

In 1849, in the course of and after the defeat of the Magyars in the 1848-1849 Revolution, the Austrian Habsburgs established a military dictatorship in the Kingdom of Hungary and the counties were turned into simple state administration entities and authorities.

A provisional centralised administration started to be created by the Austrians in February 1849, Alexander Bach issued a decree on provisional organisation of the Kingdom of Hungary in early August 1849 and a regulation on the administrative system of the Kingdom of Hungary followed on October 24.

Although the Hungarian attempt to acquire greater control over Transylvania was defeated by Austrian and Imperial Russian forces in 1849, the Ausgleich compromise between Austria and Hungary in 1867 did not bode well for the political rights of the Saxons.
