It can be reached by car, from the A11 ( Firenze-Mare ) motorway, via the A11 /" Bretella " Lucca-Viareggio link road or A12 ( Genoa-Rosignano ) motorway.

It comprises the creation of of two lane dual carriageway and junctions connecting to the A12 and A131, it will sever 10 footpaths / bridleways and involve almost entirely greenfield construction.

From the A12 west of Ipswich to the M1 / M6 junction, the A14 is part of ( but not signed as ) the E-road E 24.
