He was named Adjutant General as a colonel in the Republic of Texas Army on August 5, 1836.

In 1920, he was appointed Adjutant General of the Maryland National Guard and, in 1934, while still serving as Maryland's Adjutant General, he assumed command of the 29th Infantry Division.

After World War II, Reckord returned to his post as the Adjutant General of Maryland.

Husted of the New York Guard, trustee of Peekskill Military Academy ; president of New York State Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, of the Pilgrims Society from 1918 until his death, of the St. Nicholas Society, and of the Union League for seven years ( member since 1868 and elected honorary life member at the close of his presidency ); an officer of the French Légion d ' honneur ; vice president of New York Chamber of Commerce 1904-08 ( member since 1885 ).

In 1987 he attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst before being commissioned into the Royal Army Educational Corps ( later Adjutant General's Corps ) as a subaltern with seniority to the 7 October 1981.

In the shuffle of senior positions that followed Hoad's death in 1911, Chauvel was appointed to the Military Board in Melbourne as Adjutant General.

The Adjutant General is the chief of the Queen's Military Household.

Coast Guard Port Security Unit 309, and the Ohio Naval Militia ( the naval arm of the State of Ohio's Adjutant General's Department and part of Ohio's State Defense Forces ) and the Ohio Military Reserve ( the other part of Ohio's State Defense Forces ).

The Ohio Military Reserve serves under the Governor as Commander in Chief through the office of the Adjutant General of Ohio ( Major General Deborah A. Ashenhurst ) and is headquartered at the Haubuch Armory in Columbus, Ohio.

From 1912, he was promoted to Adjutant General and appointed Chief-of-Staff of the Vilno Military District.
