Truman enlisted in the 100th Aero Squadron – 7th Squad of United States Army as a private on August 4, 1917, later surviving the torpedoing of the Tuscania on February 5, 1918, off the coast of Ireland.

The Airline Division provided aircraft for commuter airlines in the United States including Air New Orleans, Desert Sun in Long Beach, Shasta Air and Sun West Airlines ; as well as internationally for Vickers for corporate transport use in the United Kingdom, Cameroon's Avia Services and to Piper's distributor in Colombia, Aero Leaver.

A new 2d Aero Squadron returned in December 1919, and a permanent military aviation presence was established with the organization on 20 March 1920 of the 1st Observation Group of the United States Army's Air Service at Fort Stotsenburg, consisting of the 2nd Squadron on Corregidor and the 3rd Squadron at Fort Stotsenburg.

Other airlines that commenced / resumed scheduled operations from Berlin Tegel at the beginning of the post-reunification era included Aero Lloyd, Alitalia, American Airlines, Austrian Airlines, SAS Eurolink, Swissair, TWA and United Airlines.

When America entered the First World War in April 1917, Boeing changed the name of Pacific Aero Products Co. to Boeing Airplane Company and obtained orders from the United States Navy for 50 planes.

In May 1923, Wright Aeronautical purchased the Lawrance Aero Engine Company, as the United States Navy was concerned that Lawrance couldn't produce enough engines for its needs.

The Royal Aero Club ( RAeC ) is the national co-ordinating body for Air Sport in the United Kingdom.

Spaatz was appointed Officer in Charge, American Aviation School at Issoudun, France but after receiving orders to return to the United States, he saw three weeks of action during the final months of the war with the 13th Aero Squadron as a supernumerary pilot.

Aero Spacelines, Inc. was a United States aircraft manufacturer which made a name for itself by converting Boeing 377 Stratocruisers into the famous Guppy line of airplanes re-engineered solely for transporting oversized cargo.

In 2004, though, Aero Continente had its approval to operate into the United States withdrawn by the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the United States Treasury, as its founder and key person, Fernando Zervallos, had been included in a list of the ten most wanted crime bosses of the illegal drug trade ( Specially Designated Nationals ).

The United States Army Air Service adopted French standards for evaluating victories, with two exceptions – during the summer of 1918, while flying under operational control of the British, the 17th Aero Squadron and the 148th Aero Squadron used British standards.

* The United States Army makes its 1st Aero Squadron, previously a provisional organization, into its first official aviation squadron.

* The United States Army forms one company of the 2d Aero Squadron for service in the Philippine Islands.

* December 1-The United States Armys 2d Aero Squadron is formed.

* March 16 – United States Army aircraft fly their first mission over foreign soil when Curtiss JN-3s of the 1st Aero Squadron carry out reconnaissance over Mexico.

* The United States Army forms the 7th Aero Squadron for service in the Panama Canal Zone.

* March 13 – The United States Armys 6th Aero Squadron is organized in the Territory of Hawaii, operating three Curtiss N-9 seaplanes.

* September 3 – The United States Armys 1st Aero Squadron arrives in France

* February 8-The Lafayette Escadrille, the American volunteer squadron serving in the French Army, is transferred to the United States Army and redesignated the 103rd Aero Squadron.

* July 14 – Flying a Nieuport 28, the youngest son of former U. S. President Theodore Roosevelt, Second Lieutenant Quentin Roosevelt – serving as a fighter pilot in the United States Army Air Services 95th Aero Squadron – is shot down and killed by a German fighter at Chamery, France.

Observer 24th, Aero Squadron, distinguished himself by extra-ordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy of the United States at Bois de Banthville, France, on 15 October 1918 and in recognition of his gallant conduct I have awarded him in the name of the President the Distinguished Service Cross.

* 1965 – The Aero Spacelines Super Guppy aircraft makes its first flight.

These were later followed by two Alouette III SA. 316 B helicopters, used mostly for liaison purposes, one twin-engined Aero Commander 500 light utility aircraft, two Hawker-Siddeley HS. 748-2A twin turboprop transport aircraft, and two Nord 262 twin turboprop transport aircraft.

Besides the state owned airline Cubana ( Cubana de Aviación ), the two other major Cuban airlines are Aero Caribbean and Aerogaviota, both of whom operate modern European and Russian aircraft.

Rockwell also took over and manufactured the light business aircraft previously known as Aero Commanders, then introduced their own new design as the Rockwell Commander 112 and 114.

Laker put Jack Wiseman, a fully qualified aircraft maintenance engineer with whom he had worked for a brief period at London Aero Motor Services ( LASM ), in charge of his new engineering business.

It is also involved in two major joint ventures, the Engine Alliance with GE which manufactures engines for the Airbus A380, and International Aero Engines company with Rolls-Royce, MTU Aero Engines, and the Japanese Aero Engines Corporation which manufactures engines for the Airbus A320 and the McDonnell Douglas MD-90 aircraft.

International Aero Engines is a joint venture that develops, builds and services the V2500 aero engine family, which powers the Airbus A320 family and McDonnell Douglas MD-90 aircraft.

In 1959 Bristol Aircraft merged with several major British aircraft companies to form the British Aircraft Corporation ( BAC ), and Bristol Aero Engines merged with Armstrong Siddeley to form Bristol Siddeley.

This aircraft had been exhibited at the Paris Aero Salon in 1909 and had impressed Sir George by the quality of its construction.
