The Baruch Plan was a proposal by the United States government, written largely by Bernard Baruch but based on the Acheson – Lilienthal Report, to the United Nations Atomic Energy Commission ( UNAEC ) in its first meeting in June 1946.

Crucially, the Baruch Plan suggested that neither of the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council would be able to veto a decision to punish culprits.

The Baruch Plan was not agreed upon by the Soviet Union, and though debate on the matter continued until 1948, it was not seriously advanced later than the end of 1947.

A proposed extension of the district would include nearby buildings such as the Manhattan Trade School for Girls, now the School of the Future, and the Children's Court and Family Court buildings, now part of Baruch College, all on East 22nd Street.

In a concession to Roosevelt, a " cash-and-carry " provision that had been devised by his advisor Bernard Baruch was added: the President could permit the sale of materials and supplies to belligerents in Europe as long as the recipients arranged for the transport and paid immediately in cash, with the argument that this would not draw the U. Jacob Baruch Askowith ( 1844 – 1908 ) and his son Charles Askowith designed the “ flag of Judah ,” which was displayed on July 24, 1891, at the dedication of Zion Hall of the B ’ nai Zion Educational Society in Boston, Massachusetts, U. S. Based on the traditional tallit, or Jewish prayer shawl, that flag was white with narrow blue stripes near the edges and bore in the center the ancient six-pointed Shield of David with the word “ Maccabee ” in gilt letters.

Edwin Baruch Winans ( May 16, 1826 – July 4, 1894 ) was a U. S. Representative from and the 22nd Governor of the US state of Michigan.

At the time of his death in Pasadena, he was chief advisor to Bernard Baruch, the U. S. representative to the United Nations Atomic Energy Commission.

They are identical except that Athanasius includes the Book of Baruch and the Letter of Jeremiah and places the Book of Esther among the " 7 books not in the canon but to be read " along with the Wisdom of Solomon, Sirach ( Ecclesiasticus ), Judith, Tobit, the Didache, and the Shepherd of Hermas.

Boerhaave was critical of his Dutch contemporary, Baruch Spinoza, attacking him in his dissertation in 1689.

The Septuagint version of Jeremiah also includes the Book of Baruch and the Epistle of Jeremiah.

Jerome's Prologue to Jeremiah says he excluded them: " And the Book of Baruch, his scribe, which is neither read nor found among the Hebrews, we have omitted, standing ready, because of these things, for all the curses from the jealous, to whom it is necessary for me to respond through a separate short work.

" But the Canon of Trent included them as " Ieremias cum Baruch " ( Jeremiah with Baruch ), being the Epistle or Letter of Jeremiah in the Vulgate.

Baruch Spinoza, though he argued for the existence of a permanent reality, asserts that all phenomenal existence is transitory.

Baruch Spinoza in " Principia philosophiae cartesianae " at its Prolegomenon identified " cogito ergo sum " the " ego sum cogitans " ( I am a thinking being ) as the thinking substance with his ontological interpretation.

Jerome in the Vulgate's prologues describes a canon which excludes the deuterocanonical books, possibly excepting Baruch.

In his Prologues, Jerome mentions all of the deuterocanonical and apocryphal works by name as being apocryphal or " not in the canon " except for Prayer of Manasses and Baruch.

The Eastern Orthodox books included in the Old Testament are the seven deuterocanonical books listed above, plus 3 Maccabees and 1 Esdras ( also included in the Clementine Vulgate ), while Baruch is divided from the Epistle of Jeremiah, making a total of 49 Old Testament books in contrast with the Protestant 39-book canon.

A disciple of Baruch ben Neriah, he favored study of the Law over the reconstruction of the Temple and thus because of his studies, he did not join the first party returning to Jerusalem in the reign of Cyrus.

Daniel Carleton Gajdusek ( pronounced GUY-dah-shek ; September 9, 1923 – December 12, 2008 ) was a Hungarian ˙- Slovak-American physician and medical researcher who was the co-recipient ( with Baruch S. Blumberg ) of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1976 for work on kuru, the first human prion disease demonstrated to be infectious.
