The French and their Indian allies ambushed Braddock, who was mortally wounded in the Battle of the Monongahela.

In 1755, he was a wagon driver in General Edward Braddock's attempt to drive the French out of the Ohio Country, which ended the Braddock expedition at what is known as the Battle of the Monongahela.

This skirmish began the Battle of the Monongahela, in which Braddock was mortally wounded, and George Washington distinguished himself for his courage under fire and his leadership in organising the retreat.

The Braddock expedition, a 1755 attempt to take Fort Duquesne, met with defeat at the Battle of the Monongahela at present-day Braddock, Pennsylvania.

Under the command of Sir Ralph Hopton, Sir Bevil took a distinguished part in the Battle of Braddock Down and, at Stratton ( 16 May 1643 ), where the parliamentary Earl of Stamford was completely routed by the Cornishmen, he led one of the storming parties which captured Chudleigh's lines.

In 1260 Brian O ' Neill ( Brian Ua Néill ), King of Tír Eoghain ( Tyrone ) and who had been acknowledged as High King of Ireland by Hugh O ' Conor of Connacht and Tadhg O ' Brien of Thomond marched to Downpatrick, a centre of English settlement, and, allied with a Connacht force under Hugh O ' Conor, fought the foreigners in the Battle of Down.

However, Hopton and a relieving force from Oxford inflicted a crushing defeat upon Waller's army at the Battle of Roundway Down ( 13 July 1643 ).

They agree and the trio becomes a quartet (" Ease On Down the Road # 3 "), but face a new danger when they are attacked by great creatures called Kalidahs-half tiger and half bear (" Kalidah Battle ").

However the siege was lifted by a relief force from Oxford under Henry Wilmot, 1st Earl of Rochester and Waller's forces were almost totally destroyed at the Battle of Roundway Down.
