Chris Marker (; 29 July 1921 – 29 July 2012 ) was a French writer, photographer, documentary film director, multimedia artist and film essayist.

A documentary entitled " All the Notes ", was released on DVD in 2006 by director Chris Felver.

He formed The Blue Notes with Chris McGregor, Johnny Dyani, Nikele Moyake, Mongezi Feza and Dudu Pukwana, and emigrated to Europe with them in 1964, eventually settling in London, where he formed part of a South African exile community that made an important contribution to British jazz.

After The Blue Notes splintered in the late 1960s, he played with British rock musician Robert Wyatt, progressive rock band Henry Cow, and most extensively with fellow ex Blue Notes Johnny Dyani, Chris McGregor and Dudu Pukwana.

In the 1960s, Pukwana, Feza and Moholo were also members of the jazz band The Blue Notes alongside Chris McGregor.
