In 2005, the first Confucius Institute was established in Africa.

Dawson recently partnered with the University of Sherbrooke to launch the Confucius Institute in Quebec on its campus.

" This Kongzi Xueyuan ( 孔子學院 ) is Chinese for the Confucius Institute, but Mair notes that " pure Chinese " curiously implies " impure Chinese ".

The Institute is based on an agreement of June 2006 between the university administration and representatives of the Chinese Embassy to establish a Confucius Institute in cooperation with the Renmin University and the " National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language ".

The Hotani Campus was established in 1984 and currently houses the Department of International Communication and a Confucius Institute.

A Confucius Institute is now an integral part of academic life at PC.
