Upon completion of the EOD training, graduates are assigned to EOD Mobile Units where they gain advanced on-the-job training and experience as members of Combat Expeditionary Support ( CES ) platoons / companies, Carrier and Expeditionary Strike Group platoons, Naval Special Warfare and SOF Companies, and Marine Mammal Companies.

An Expeditionary Mission Support Group was formed to provide command and control of these JET Airmen as they are trained at US Army Power Projection Platforms across the US prior to deploying to their assigned Area of Responsibility ( AOR ).

It has approximately 130 staff and is a sub unit of No 42 ( Expeditionary Support ) Wing.

While the 34th Bomb Squadron deployed to Diego Garcia as the B-1 component of the 28th Air Expeditionary Wing, the wing sent a Base Operations Support package to Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, to transform the bare base into a fully functional airfield for large-scale combat operations.

** Explosive Ordnance Disposal Expeditionary Support Unit Two

The station has re-roled to be the home of the ' A4 Force ' ( the Royal Air Force's Air Combat Service Support Units ( ACSSUs )), with No 85 Expeditionary Logistics Wing and its subordinate ACSSUs, 2 MT Squadron and 3 Mobile Catering Squadron ( formerly the Mobile Catering Support Unit ( MCSU )) moving in from RAF Stafford.

Elements of the Armament Support Unit ( ASU ) also returned to RAF Wittering from RAF Marham in Norfolk to be part of the newly formed No 42 ( Expeditionary Support ) Wing, which also took 5001 Squadron under command from 85 Wing when that unit also relocated from RAF Stafford.

The hospital treats 180, 000 outpatients and 2, 000 inpatients annually at 7 operating locations and maintains Expeditionary Medical Support ( EMEDS ).
