The Navy consists of the Warship Flotilla, the Sea Coastal Surveillance System, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal ( EOD ) Divers Team, the Naval Logistic Service, Training Center and Maritime Rescue Coordination Center.

Under the HQ element are two SEAL platoons of 16 – 20 men ( two officers, 14 – 16 enlisted SEALs, and sometimes two enlisted EOD Operators ); a company-sized Combat Service Support ( CSS ) and / or Combat Support ( CS ) consisting of staff N-codes ( the Army and Marine Corps use S-codes ); N1 Administrative support, N2 Intelligence, N3 Operations, N4 Logistics, N5 Plans and Targeting, N6 Communications, N7 Training, and N8 Air / Medical.

Prior to attending NAVSCOLEOD, Navy service members attend Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center ( NDSTC ) in Panama City, FL for a 9 week EOD Diver Course.

A specialist Army unit 321 EOD Unit Company ( now part of 11 EOD Regiment RLC ) was deployed to tackle increased IRA violence and willingness to use bombs against both economic and military targets.

The ICEC has a special unit, called Yahalom ( in Hebrew it means " Diamond " but also abbreviation of " Engineering Unit for Special Operations ") which handles EOD, commando, demolition and sabotage, engineering recon, advance robotics, tunnel warfare, maritime breaching, counter-NBC, and other classified tasks.

* YACHSAP (" EOD Unit ")-an EOD unit that removes land mines and missile warheads, handles nuclear, biological and chemical ( NBC ) threats, performs bomb disposal, and accompanies special operations units on missions where there units are at risk of encountering explosive booby traps.

Two years later, the Army Bomb Disposal School would close, making Indian Head the sole Joint Service EOD School in the U. S. at the time, though currently NAVSCOLEOD has relocated to Eglin AFB FL.

Two Israeli EOD teams gained high reputation for leading the efforts in that area: the Army's Israeli Engineering Corps ' Sayeret Yahalom and the Israeli Border Guard Gaza-area EOD team.

Joint Service Explosive Ordnance Disposal in the Falkland Islands consists of 33 Engineer Regiment ( EOD ), RAF and RLC EOD teams.

In 1951, the Navy was assigned Joint Service responsibilities for EOD research and development, and training.

As a result, the Navy took on the responsibility for training all Joint Service EOD operators ( Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force ) and for the development EOD technologies in support of the Joint Service EOD Community.

Subsequently, NAVEODFAC was redesignated as a fourth echelon field activity under the Naval Sea Sytstems Command ( NAVSEA ) and asked to provide EOD research and development in carrying out the Secretary of the Navy's responsibility for meeting Joint Service EOD technology requirements as defined by the Joint Service Explosive Ordnance Disposal Program Board.

33 Engineer Regiment ( EOD ) provides constant support and is part of the Joint Service Falkland Islands Detachment which consists of RAF and RLC EOD teams.

Upon completion of the EOD training, graduates are assigned to EOD Mobile Units where they gain advanced on-the-job training and experience as members of Combat Expeditionary Support ( CES ) platoons / companies, Carrier and Expeditionary Strike Group platoons, Naval Special Warfare and SOF Companies, and Marine Mammal Companies.

The last recorded death from a German butterfly bomb in England occurred on November 27, 1956, over 11 years after the Second World War ended: Flight Lieutenant Herbert Denning of the RAF was examining an SD2 at the " Upminster bomb cemetery " ( some remote sandpits situated East of RAF Hornchurch, where EOD experimental and research work took place ) when it detonated.

Lodger units are the RAF Police, Joint Air Delivery Test and Evaluation Unit ( JADTEU )-A tri-service unit that tests and evaluates air transportation methods, and No. 1 Parachute Training School RAF.

There are currently numerous construction projects ongoing at the Shearwater Heliport in support of the Maritime Helicopter Project, including the Maritime Helicopter Training Centre where No. 406 Squadron will be located, as well as a new No. 423 ( MH ) Squadron hangar facility, a new 12 Air Maintenance Squadron facility with 6 repair bays, and a new Operational Support Facility where the Helicopter Operational Test and Evaluation Facility ( HOTEF ) and various 12 Wing headquarter functions will be located.

The Royal Netherlands Air Force has a Fighter Weapons Instructor Training ( FWIT ) with 323 Tactical Training, Evaluation & Standardisation Squadron ( TACTESS ) at Leeuwarden Airbase.
