Ulysses is a decommissioned robotic space probe that was designed to study the Sun as a joint venture of NASA and the European Space Agency ( ESA ).

LISA Pathfinder is the revised name for SMART-2 or Small Missions for Advanced Research in Technology-2, a NASA / ESA space probe to be launched in 2014.

In 2000 Smeds and other ESA engineers questioned the sufficiency of the previous testing of the Alenia Spazio-built communication system on Cassini, and Smeds and his colleague Claudio Sollazzo travelled to the Mojave desert for additional tests, discovering that the design of the receiver on the Cassini orbiter had not taken into account the Doppler shifting of the signals from the Huygens probe.

Probe Leo, named after Leonardo da Vinci, was the second probe to attempt landing on Darwin IV, which was a success.
