The majority of the population of the town lives in Eagle Valley, on the eastern edge of the Carson Range, a branch of the Sierra Nevada.

The first European Americans to arrive in what is known as Eagle Valley were John C. Fremont and his exploration party in January 1843.

By 1851 the Eagle Station ranch located along the Carson River served as a trading post and stopover for travelers on the California Trail's Carson Branch which ran through Eagle Valley.

As Curry and several other partners had Eagle Valley surveyed for development.

The two middle schools are Carson Middle School and Eagle Valley Middle School.

Significant finds include the Superior Valley 014 Acapulcoite, one of two of its type found within the United States as well as the Blue Eagle meteorite, the first Rumuruti-type chondrite yet found in the Americas.

Across the Valley on the northern side are the Three Brothers, rising one above the other like gables built on the same angle – the highest crest is Eagle Peak, with the two below known as the Middle and Lower Brothers.

Their glaciers were huge and covered nearly all the landmarks around Yosemite Valley except Half Dome, Eagle Peak, Sentinel Dome, and the top of El Capitan.

The Lozoya Valley supports a large black ( monk ) vulture colony, and one of the last bastions of the Spanish Imperial Eagle in the world is found in the Park Regional del Suroeste in dehesa hills between the Gredos and Guadarrama ranges.

Attractions include the Anthony Lakes ( and its ski area ), Minam River, Mount Emily, Blue Mountains, Umatilla National Forest, Wallowa – Whitman National Forest ( including Eagle Cap Wilderness ), Catherine Creek State Park, Hilgard Junction State Recreation Area, Thief Valley Reservoir, Cove Hot Springs Pool, the Hot Lake Hotel ( first built in the 1860s due to nearby hot springs ), and the Eagle Cap Excursion Train.

It heads north from Eagle to Horseshoe Bend and climbs the whitewater of the Payette River to Cascade and McCall in Valley County, and ends at New Meadows in Adams County, at the junction with U. S. Route 95.

In 1899, the U. S. Army built a pack trail for summer use between the port of Valdez and Eagle, which passed through the Copper River Valley.

The Golden Eagle Farm in eastern Ramona's Ballena Valley was the home of Best Pal, the second-place finisher of the 1991 Kentucky Derby.

It heads north from Eagle in Ada County to Horseshoe Bend in Boise County, and climbs the whitewater of the Payette River to Cascade and McCall in Valley County.

Several served in the Revolutionary War, which brought the 1779 construction of Continental Road from Eagle Valley through the present-day village of Tuxedo Park to what is now Route 17 near Warwick Brook Road.
