* Deism – The general doctrine that no faith is necessary for justified belief in God's existence and / or the doctrine that God does not intervene in earthly affairs ( contrasts with Fideism ).

# Fideism holds that faith is necessary, and that beliefs may be held without evidence or reason, or even in conflict with evidence and reason.

Fideism is an epistemological theory which maintains that faith is independent of reason, or that reason and faith are hostile to each other and faith is superior at arriving at particular truths ( see natural theology ).

Criticisms from those critical of ( or agnostic toward ) faith as rational have included that Reformed epistemology rests on the presupposition that there is religious truth, but does not present any argument to show that there is any ( compare Fideism ).

Fideism is not a synonym for religious belief, but describes a particular philosophical proposition in regard to the relationship between faith's appropriate jurisdiction at arriving at truths, contrasted against reason.

" This interpretation was first labeled, " Wittgensteinian Fideism ," by Kai Nielsen but those who consider themselves Wittgensteinians in the Swansea tradition have relentlessly and repeatedly rejected this construal as caricature of Wittgenstein's considered position ; this is especially true of D. Z. Phillips.

" This was thought to favour the doctrine of absolute non-resistance, and accordingly the convention parliament enacted the form that has been in use since that time – " I do sincerely promise and swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to His Majesty ..."

* Total depravity – Arminians agree with Calvinists over the doctrine of total depravity.

* Extent of the atonement – Arminians, along with four-point Calvinists or Amyraldians, hold to a universal drawing and universal extent of atonement instead of the Calvinist doctrine that the drawing and atonement is limited in extent to the elect only, which many Calvinists prefer to call ' particular redemption '.

* 1852 – At a general conference of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Brigham Young explains the Adam – God doctrine, an important part of the theology of Mormon fundamentalism.

The Athanasian Creed is usually divided into two sections: lines 1 – 28 addressing the doctrine of the Trinity, and lines 29 – 44 addressing the doctrine of Christology.

* Arminianism supports works-based salvation – No well-known system of Arminianism denies salvation " by faith alone " and " by faith first to last ".

Belief through faith is the condition for entrance into the Kingdom of God ; unbelief is the condition for exit from the Kingdom of God – not a lack of good works.

* Nature of election – Arminians hold that election to eternal salvation has the condition of faith attached.

* Nature of grace – Arminians believe that, through grace, God restores free will concerning salvation to all humanity, and each individual, therefore, is able either to accept the Gospel call through faith or resist it through unbelief.

* Perseverance in faith – Arminians believe that future salvation and eternal life is secured in Christ and protected from all external forces but is conditional on remaining in Christ and can be lost through apostasy.

Albert of Prussia (; ) ( 17 May 1490 – 20 March 1568 ) was the 37th and last sovereign Grand Master of the Teutonic Knights and, after converting to Lutheranism, the first duke of the Duchy of Prussia, which was the first state to adopt the Lutheran faith and Protestantism as the official state religion.

Chapters 36 – 39 concern Hezekiah's triumph over the Assyrians and his faith in God.

* If the Venerable was not a martyr – all non-martyrs are " confessors " as they " confessed " or bore witness to their faith by how they lived their lives – it must be proven that a miracle has taken place by his or her intercession: that is, that God has shown a sign that the person is enjoying the Beatific Vision by God performing a miracle in response to the Blessed's prayers.
