As Mitchell was about to graduate from the Washington Seminary in 1918, she met and fell in love with another Harvard student, a young army lieutenant, Clifford West Henry, who was chief bayonet instructor at Camp Gordon from May 10 until the time he set sail for France on July 17.

But there was no physical passion in his relationship with Mitchell, and she thought that Henry reverenced her.

There, seeking other economists interested in the new mathematical and statistical approaches to economics, he associated with Irving Fisher, Wesley Clair Mitchell, Allyn Young and Henry Schultz.

The Mitchell family of Dennis, Hank / Henry and Alice were all named after the Ketchams.

They are Parris Mitchell ( Robert Cummings ), who lives with his grandmother ( Maria Ouspenskaya ); Cassandra Tower ( Betty Field ), daughter of Dr. Alexander Tower ( Claude Rains ); the wealthy orphan Drake McHugh ( Ronald Reagan ); Louise Gordon ( Nancy Coleman ), daughter of the sadistic town physician Dr. Henry Gordon ( Charles Coburn ), who has been known to perform operations without anesthetic ; and the tomboy Randy Monaghan ( Ann Sheridan ), whose father ( Ernest Cossart ) is a railroad worker.

The name Camilla was chosen in honor of the granddaughter of Henry Mitchell, an American Revolutionary War general for whom Mitchell County was named.

Many more businesses followed over the next few years, including the Henry Jacobs & Son grocery, grain elevators built by L. Templeton, and blacksmith John E. Mitchell, who was also the town's first postmaster ( succeeded by grocer Henry Jacobs ).
