John Henry Newton ( July 24, 1725December 21, 1807 ) was a British sailor and Anglican clergyman.

He wanted to play the Chorus in Olivier's Henry V, but the role went to Leslie Banks, and he longed desperately to be cast against type as Bill Sikes in David Lean's Oliver Twist, but Lean thought him wrong for the part and cast Robert Newton instead.

A bill introduced by John F. Hardin and John Harris carved Rockdale out of the northern portion of Newton County ; parts of Rockdale County also came from neighboring Henry, Walton, Gwinnett, and DeKalb counties.

Composer James Newton Howard's main theme is based on the music from The Fairy Queen by Henry Purcell.

Newton went into partnership with Henry Talbot, a fellow German Jew who had also been interned at Tatura, and his association with the studio continued even after 1957, when he left Australia for London.

This promise was fulfilled in a communication which Newton addressed to Henry Oldenburg, the secretary of the Royal Society, on 6 February 1672, and which was read before the society two days afterwards.

Then the story returns to the past as Daniel and Newton return to London: Newton is under the patronage of Louis Anglesey, the Earl of Upnor, and Daniel becomes secretary of the Royal Society when Henry Oldenburg is detained by the King for his active foreign correspondence.
