During the reign of King Jie of Xia, there was a great climatic change.

In c 1600 BCE, King Tang of Shang defeated Jie, the final Xia Dynasty king, and built Western Bo (), a new capital on the Luo River.

It is not known when the game of Liubo originated, although according to legend it was invented by Wu Cao ( 烏曹, called Wu Zhou 烏胄 in the early 2nd century CE Shuowen Jiezi dictionary ), a minister to King Jie, the last king of the Xia Dynasty, who according to traditional chronology reigned 1728 BCE – 1675 BCE.

According to tradition, Tang of Shang assembled his subjects to overthrow King Jie of Xia, the infamous last ruler of the Xia Dynasty, but they were reluctant to attack.

King Jie ( 1728 – 1675 BCE ) was the 17th and last ruler of the Xia dynasty of China.

He asked King Jie to spare him.

The plan was to lure the Shu forces into poisonous marshes around the caves of King Duosi, but Zhuge Liang was forewarned of the dangers by Meng Huo's older brother, Meng Jie, and managed to avoid the marshes all together.

Bartoli was seeded second, with wins over Michaëlla Krajicek 6 – 2, 6 – 4, Magdaléna Rybáriková 6 – 0, 6 – 4, Vania King 2 – 6, 6 – 2, 6 – 3, and Zheng Jie 7 – 5, 6 – 3.

However, Peng won the doubles title alongside Zheng Jie, defeating No. 3 seeds Yaroslava Shvedova and Vania King 6 – 2, 6 – 3.

Sima Qian stated, based on preceding Chinese records ( Bamboo Annals ), that the Xiongnu's ruling clan were descendants of Chunwei ( 淳維 " Chun tribes "), possibly a son of Jie, the final ruler of the legendary Xia Dynasty ( c. 2070 – 1600 BC ).

Jie, the last king of the Xia Dynasty, was supposedly a bloodthirsty despot.

Tribal leader Tang of Shang revolted against Xia rule and eventually overthrew Jie, establishing the Shang Dynasty, based in Anyang.

One especially mentioned case involves the 17th and last ruler of the dynasty, Jie of Xia, who has been often been the one credited ( or blamed ) for the demise of the Xia to the succeeding Shang dynasty: at the behest of his mistress, Jie was said to have ordered the construction of a pool of wine ( alcoholic beverage ), which when eventually completed and filled was large enough to navigate with some sort of boat.

Around 1600 BCE Jie was defeated by Shang Tang, bringing an end to the Xia Dynasty, that lasted about 500 years, and a rise to the new Shang Dynasty.

Jie ( 桀 ) is generally known as Xia Jie ( 夏桀 ) or Jie of Xia.

The Shang forces, under their general Wuzi ( 戊子 ), pursued Jie to Cheng ( 郕 ), captured him at Jiaomen ( 焦門 ) and deposed him, bringing the Xia dynasty to an end.

Luo Jie is the name of a mountain bordering Zhejiang and Jing Qi where, during the Ming dynasty, jie meant boundary.

According to Records of the Three Kingdoms by the Jin dynasty historian, Chen Shou, his father, Zang Jie, who served as a prison warden in the Huaxian region, was displeased with the Grand Administrator's ( 太守 ) abuse of laws to order the death of the locals.

Their existence still echoes today in place names like Xiao Ximen ( 小西门, ' Lesser west gate ') and Beimen Jie ( 北门街, ' North gate Street ').

However, the eastern part of north China came under the control of a rebel Xiongnu-Han general of Jie ( probably Yeniseian ) ancestry named Shi Le.

One of the most notable triumvirates formed in the history of China was by the Han Dynasty ( 202 BC – 220 AD ) statesmen Huo Guang ( d. 68 BC ), Jin Midi ( d. 86 BC ), and Shangguan Jie 上官桀 ( d. 80 BC ), following the death of Emperor Wu of Han ( r. 141 – 87 BC ) and the installation of the child emperor Zhao.

In December 2007, China added Duan Wu Jie or Duen Ng Jit ( Solar Maximus Festival, a. k. a. dragon boat festival ) to her schedule of official national annual holidays.

She then went on to defeat Zheng Jie from China in the semi-finals in convincing fashion 6 – 1, 6 – 0, setting up a clash with World No. 1 Serena Williams in the 2010 Australian Open ladies final.

In a controversial essay called History of the Yellow Race ( Huangshi 黃史 ), which was published serially from 1905 to 1908, Huang Jie ( 黃節 ; 1873 – 1935 ) claimed that the Han race was the true master of China because it was descended from the Yellow Emperor.

An entire block in Beijing Niu Jie ( Cow Street ) is fenced with a capital wall, decorated with a block-long poster wrapping around the block and depicting all 56 " recognized " ethnic groups of China ( including Han ) forming " The great united family of peoples " ( 民族团结大家庭 ).

Lü Jie (; English name Amy Lu ) is a Cantonese-speaking model who works in Mainland China and Hong Kong.

Lü Jie graduated from Zhixin High School in Guangzhou, Guangdon, China and the Guangzhou Institute of Foreign Languages with a degree in French.

The Battle of Jieqiao or the Battle of Jie Bridge was a military engagement fought between Yuan Shao and Gongsun Zan in 191, at the beginning of the civil wars in China leading up to the fall of the Han Dynasty.

For instance, Jiehu 羯胡 for the Jie " a branch of the Xiongnu " or Qianghu 羌胡 for the Qiang " ancient nationality in West China ".

He was the chief editor of New China News Agency 《 新華社 》, chairman of Jie Fang Daily 《 解放日報 》 and Ren Min Daily 《 人民日報 》.

Wei Wei () ( January 16, 1920 – August 24, 2008 ), originally known as Hong Jie (), was a poet, a prose writer, a literary report writer, a journalist, a vice-editor-in-chief and the editor of various newspapers in China and a propagandist.

During the Jin Dynasty, the five semi-nomadic tribes of Xiongnu, Jie, Xianbei, Di, and Qiang overran northern China.

In 2006, Uberoi represented India at the 2006 Asian Games where she defeated Linda Ahmad of Bahrain in Round 1, but retired in the second round to Zheng Jie of China.
