Louis-Joseph de Montcalm-Gozon, Marquis de Saint-Veran ( February 28, 1712 – September 14, 1759 ) was a French soldier best known as the commander of the forces in North America during the Seven Years ' War ( whose North American theatre is called the French and Indian War in the United States ).

Louis-Joseph Papineau ( October 7, 1786 – September 25, 1871 ), born in Montreal, Quebec, was a politician, lawyer, and the landlord of the seigneurie de la Petite-Nation.

Louis-Joseph Chevrolet ( December 25, 1878 – June 6, 1941 ) was a Swiss-born American race car driver of French descent, founder of the Chevrolet Motor Car Company in 1911 and later, the Frontenac Motor Corporation in 1916 which made racing parts for Ford's Model T.

Coincidentally, Trudeau later became the Member of Parliament ( MP ) for a riding named after Talbot Mercer Papineau's lineage: this includes his great-great-grandfather, seigneur Joseph Papineau ( 1752 – 1841 ) and great-grandfather, reformist Patriote Louis-Joseph Papineau ( 1786 – 1871 ).

Louis-Joseph Diémer ( 14 February 1843, Paris – 21 December 1919, Paris ) was a French pianist and composer.

A commission of four eminent jurists was appointed in 1800 ( chaired by Cambacérès, now Second Consul, and including Louis-Joseph Faure ), and sometimes by First Consul Napoleon himself.

The Manifesto was published in two versions ( October 11, 1849 and December 1849 ) by the Annexation Association, an alliance of 325 Montreal businessmen ( mostly English-speaking Tories ), who were opposed to Britain's abolition of the Corn Laws, thus ending preferential colonial trade, and by its consent to the Rebellion Losses Bill, and French Canadian nationalists ( including Louis-Joseph Papineau ) who supported the republican system of government in the United States.

Candiac was named after Louis-Joseph de Montcalm, who was born in 1712 at Château de Candiac ( Vestric-et-Candiac ), near Nîmes, in France.
