Macarius Magnes is the author of an apology against a Neo-Platonic philosopher of the early part of the fourth century, contained in a manuscript of the fifteenth century discovered at Athens in 1867 and edited by C. Blondel ( Paris, 1876 ).

The Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life at the Bancroft Library, formerly known as the Judah L. Magnes Museum from 1961 until its reopening in 2012, is a museum of Jewish history, art, and culture in Berkeley, California.

In addition to the move, the name of the museum was changed to the Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life, as the institution and its collection will now be administered by the university's Bancroft Library.
