* 1983 – Mehmet Topuz, Turkish footballer

Mehmet Barış Manço ( also spelled Boris Mancho in some European album releases ), born Tosun Yusuf Mehmet Barış Manço, ( January 2, 1943-February 1, 1999 ) was a Turkish rock singer, composer, and television producer.

Among these were important historical figures, including Iljaz Hoxha, Hamza Kastrioti, Davud Pasha, Zağanos Pasha, Köprülü Mehmed Pasha ( head of the Köprülü family of Grand Viziers ), the Bushati family, Sulejman Pasha, Edhem Pasha, Nezim Frakulla, Ali Pasha of Tepelena, Haxhi Shekreti, Hasan Zyko Kamberi, Ali Pasha of Gucia, Mehmet Ali ruler of Egypt and Emin Pasha.

The Ottoman fleet had a Y shaped configuration: Barbarossa, together with his son Hasan Reis ( later Hasan Pasha ), Sinan Reis, Cafer Reis and Şaban Reis, was at the center ; Seydi Ali Reis commanded the left wing ; Salih Reis commanded the right wing ; while Turgut Reis, accompanied by Murat Reis, Güzelce Mehmet Reis and Sadık Reis, commanded the rear wing.

Mehmet Fuat Köprülü ( December 5, 1890 – June 28, 1966 ), aka Köprülüzade, who traced his descent from the illustrious Köprülü family, was a Turkish politician and historian, known for his contributions to Ottoman history, Turkish folklore and language.

Mehmet claims to have learned his art from Mikhail Zilcan ( sometimes spelled Zildjian ), the grandson of Kerope Zilcan after whom the Zildjian K series is named.

Although the influence of Turkic nobility continued in the Ottoman court until Mehmet II ( see Çandarlı Halil ), the Ottoman ruling class slowly came to be ruled exclusively by the devşirme, creating a separate social class.

Ahmet Tevfik İleri ( who was born in Yaltkaya ( Gomno ) village of Hemşin ), a Deputy Prime Minister and before that, a Minister of Education in Turkey within successive Adnan Menderes governments between 1950 – 1960, as well as Damat Mehmet Ali Pasha, the Ottoman Grand Vizier on the eve of the Crimean War in 1853 were also Hamshenis.
