On February 9, 1895, in Holyoke, Massachusetts ( USA ), William G. Morgan, a YMCA physical education director, created a new game called Mintonette as a pastime to be played preferably indoors and by any number of players.

The first rules, written down by William G Morgan, called for a net 6 ft 6 in ( 1. 98 m ) high, a 25 × 50 ft ( 7. 6 × 15. 2 m ) court, and any number of players.

E. J. Mason from 1946 to 1949, and G. R. Morgan in 1972 continued the work.

But over the following 55 days, widespread press coverage, as well as pressure from Pennsylvania Attorney General Mike Fisher, the community of Hershey, and Dauphin County Orphans ' Court Senior Judge Warren G. Morgan, led to the sale being abandoned.

The cocktail was invented in 1941 by John G. Martin of G. F. Heublein Brothers, Inc., an East Coast spirits and food distributor, and " Jack " Morgan, President of Cock ' n ' Bull Products ( which produced ginger beer ) and proprietor of the Cock ' n ' Bull restaurant on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles popular with celebrities.

Three friends were in the Chatham bar, one John A. Morgan, known as Jack, president of Cock ' n ' Bull Products and owner of the Hollywood Cock ' n ' Bull Restaurant ; one was John G. Martin, president of G. F. Heublein Brothers Inc. of Hartford, Conn., and the third was Rudolph Kunett, president of the Pierre Smirnoff, Heublein's vodka division.

Morgan filled the fire box with wood again, then started supper and set the table.

`` I'm Dan Morgan.

then she murmured: `` You're very kind, Mr. Morgan.

`` I'm sorry, Mr. Morgan.

`` Mr. Morgan, it's the best-looking food I ever saw ''.

The grateful way she looked at Morgan made him ashamed of himself.

Morgan laughed.

`` We'll see '', Morgan said.
