A quarter of a century has gone by since this bevy of walking dreams sashayed up and down the staircases of the old New Amsterdam Theater, N.Y..

* 1654 – Jacob Barsimson arrives in New Amsterdam.

* 1657 – Freedom of religion is granted to the Jews of New Amsterdam ( later New York City ).

It is the oldest north – south main thoroughfare in New York City, dating to the first New Amsterdam settlement.

After becoming New York's de facto Red Light District in the 1960s and 1970s ( as can be seen in the films Taxi Driver and Midnight Cowboy ), since the late 1980s Times Square has emerged as a family tourist center, in effect being Disneyfied following the company's purchase and renovation of the New Amsterdam Theatre on 42nd Street in 1993.

Before Broadway became one-way, the main bus routes along it were the New York City Omnibus Company's ( NYCO ) 6 ( Broadway below Times Square ), 7 ( Broadway and Columbus Avenue ), and 11 ( Ninth and Amsterdam Avenues ), and the Surface Transportation Corporation's M100 ( Kingsbridge ) and M104 ( Broadway Branch ).

Most settlers in the American Mid-Atlantic and New England were Calvinists, including the English Puritans, the French Huguenot and Dutch settlers of New Amsterdam ( New York ), and the Scotch-Irish Presbyterians of the Appalachian back country.

The New Netherland area, which included New Amsterdam, covered parts of present-day New York, Connecticut, Delaware, and New Jersey.

The Iroquois Native Americans traded furs with the Dutch colonists at New Amsterdam by traveling through the Detroit River.

A provision of the agreement transfers the Dutch colony of New Amsterdam to England, and it is renamed New York.

* 1653 – New Amsterdam ( later renamed The City of New York ) is incorporated.

The main coastal roads are, from west to east, the Essequibo Coast Road, the Parika to Vreed en Hoop Road, the East Coast Demerara and West Coast Berbice Roads, and the Corentyne Highway from New Amsterdam to Moleson Creek ( 86 kilometres ).

But there is one small episode that a few New York fans who happened to sit in the cheap seats for one World's Series game in 1926 like best to recall.

* In episode 2, season 4 of " How I Met Your Mother ", entitled " The Best Burger in New York ", Marshall's description of the taste of the best burger uses music that alludes to the 1984 film " Amadeus ", when Antonio Salieri describes the same music ( by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart ) with the same accuracy and passion with which Marshall speaks of the burger.

New pressures also saw introduction of the third weekly episode on 20 October 1989, broadcast each Friday at 19: 30.

Jones also appeared in animated form as himself in 1972 in an hour-long episode of The New Scooby-Doo Movies.

In a 1950 radio episode of You Bet Your Life, Groucho stated that he was born in a room above a butcher's shop on 78th Street in New York City.

His short story " The New Accelerator " was the inspiration for the Star Trek episode Wink of an Eye.

In the Silver to Bronze Age stories as well as in the " Green, Green Glow of Home " episode of Lois & Clark New adventures of Superman Kryptonite is a stable transuranic element ( element 126 ) that finally decays to iron.

He would make a cameo in the movie Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector and was in an episode of CSI: New York in 2006.

He has also been voiced in animation by Jackson Beck in the 1960s series The New Adventures of Superman, Stan Jones in the 1970s / 1980s Super Friends franchise, Michael Bell in the 1988 Superman animated series, and by Clancy Brown in the 1990s / 2000s DC animated universe, as well as a 2007 episode of The Batman and the 2009 direct-to-DVD animated feature Superman / Batman: Public Enemies, among others.

A 2005 episode of the satirical New Zealand news show Eating Media Lunch depicted newsreaders fornicating in a parody of Naked News called " Fuck News ".

New neighbours Derek and Betty McVitie replaced the Trenches for the 1997 special " Endgame ", however this turned out to be their only appearances in the series and they were said to have emigrated by the penultimate episode which caused Nick Swainey to leap straight in with the offer for their old house.

* " The Phoenix ", an episode of Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman

Falk's first stage appearance was at the age of 12 in The Pirates of Penzance at Camp High Point in upstate New York, where one of his camp counselors was Ross Martin ( they would later act together in The Great Race and the Columbo episode " Suitable For Framing ").

" He appeared in one episode of Robert Montgomery Presents in 1957, and also appeared in Studio One, Kraft Television Theater, New York Confidential, Naked City, Have Gun – Will Travel and Decoy.

* A copy of the Rubaiyat plays a role in an episode of the TV series New Amsterdam and is shown to be the inspiration for the name of one of the lead character's children, Omar York.

Carter appeared as himself in an episode of the HBO series Treme entitled " What Is New Orleans.

* An episode of Futurama, " Roswell That Ends Well ", takes place in 1947 Roswell, New Mexico when Fry accidentally gets the crew transported back in time, and the authorities mistake Bender's disassembled body for a UFO and apprehend Dr. Zoidberg as an alien.

In 2000, Gellar guest appeared as Debbie in the HBO series Sex and the City episode " Escape from New York ".

* An alternate ending of an episode of the show Invader Zim was taken off since it featured a scene where all of New York is destroyed, Nickelodeon acted quickly and changed the ending.

He also had a supporting part as a TV advertisement producer in Charlie Chaplin's A King in New York ( 1957 ) and played Master Henry in Outlaw Money an episode of The Adventures of Robin Hood.

He appeared as himself in the first episode of ITV comedy The New Statesman, coming second in the 1987 election, ahead of the Labour and SDP, which saw Alan B ' Stard elected to Parliament.

Also, in the Sliders episode " Post Traumatic Slide Syndrome ", Quinn recognized he was not home on his Earth due to a newspaper headline that showed the 49ers had beaten the New York Jets in Super Bowl XIX.

*" The Strange Case of the Demon Barber " ( 8 January 1946 ), an adaptation of the Sweeney Todd story featured in an episode of the radio drama The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.

In the episode " Requiem ", The Smoking Man is believed to be killed after being pushed down a flight of stairs by Alex Krycek until the series finale " The Truth ", where Mulder and Scully travel through remote New Mexico and reach a pueblo where a " wise man " reputedly lives and is revealed to be the Smoking Man.

* In the HBO comedy series Flight of the Conchords episode " The New Cup ", the band's manager, Murray, uses the band's emergency funds for an investment with a Nigerian, Mr. Nigel Soladu, who promises to offer " 1000 % profit ".

* Borzoi can also been seen in cameo roles in the films Love at First Bite, Legends of the Fall (" Notchee Boy "), Excalibur, All Dogs Go to Heaven ( 1989 ), Bride of Frankenstein, Easter Parade, Wolfen, Ziegfeld Follies, Onegin ( 1999 ), Gangs of New York ( 2002 ), Chaplin, The Avengers ( TV series ), JAG, Maverick ( 1994 ), Sleepy Hollow, Last Action Hero, and A Knights Tale ( on the DVD deleted scenes ).

Barney Bubbles directed several videos, including The Specials ' " Ghost Town ", Squeeze's " Is That Love " and " Tempted ", Elvis Costello's " Clubland " and " New Lace Sleeves ", and Fun Boy Three's " The Lunatics ( Have Taken Over the Asylum )".

In 1972, her mother purchased a farm in New Zealand and moved the family there, but left Love in the United States under the care of her former stepfather and various friends due to her increasingly hostile behavior.

Throughout the months preceding the tour, Love was rarely seen in public, spending her time in her home or visiting the Namgyal Buddhist Monastery in New York.

In May 2012, Love debuted an art show at Fred Torres Collaborations in New York titled " And She's Not Even Pretty ", which contained over forty drawings and paintings by Love composed in ink, colored pencil, pastels, and watercolors.

In a 1996 New York Magazine piece on women in rock music, it was noted that Love " had the ambition most people would associate with a male rock star ... one thing you have to admire her for is that she refuses — just refuses — to be overlooked in any way.

Of the previously unreleased songs, " Down to the Wire " features the New Orleans pianist Dr. John with Buffalo Springfield on an item from their shelved Stampede album ; " Love Is a Rose " was a minor hit for Linda Ronstadt in 1975 ; " Winterlong " received a cover by Pixies on the Neil Young tribute album from 1989, The Bridge ; and " Campaigner " is a Young song critical of Richard Nixon.

Other chart hits during this period included Parton's chart-topping cover of the 1969 First Edition hit " But You Know I Love You " and " The House of the Rising Sun " ( both 1981 ), " Single Women ", " Heartbreak Express " and " Hard Candy Christmas " ( 1982 ) and 1983's " Potential New Boyfriend ", which was accompanied by one of Parton's first music videos, and which also reached the U. S. dance charts.

Notable accounts of encounters with the Holy Spirit in this fashion are found in St Symeon the New Theologian's account of the illumination of ' George ' ( considered a pseudonym of St Symeon himself ); in the ' conversation with Motovilov ' in the Life of St Seraphim of Sarov ( 1759 – 1833 ); and, more recently, in the reminiscences of Elder Porphyrios ( Wounded by Love pp. 27 – 31 ).

The album peaked at # 9 on Billboard magazine's Top R & B / Hip-Hop Albums and at # 14 on the Billboard 200, spawning several singles including " Gotta Lotta Love ", " I Ain't New To This " and " 99 Problems " – which would later inspire Jay-Z to record a version with new lyrics in 2003.

He syncretized Abolitionism, Free Love, spiritual universalism, ( Josiah ) Warren, & ( Charles ) Fourier into a grand utopian scheme he called the Universal Pantarchy ... He was instrumental in founding several “ intentional communities ,” including the “ Brownstone Utopia ” on 14th St. in New York, & “ Modern Times ” in Brentwood, Long Island.

The latter became as famous as the best-known fourierist communes ( Brook Farm in Massachusetts & the North American Phalanx in New Jersey ) — in fact, Modern Times became downright notorious ( for “ Free Love ”) & finally foundered under a wave of scandalous publicity.

* All About Love: New Visions

" In 2005 the New York Times published ( as a part of their series " Modern Love ") the testimony of former Unification Church member Renee Watabe about her arranged marriage in which her husband was selected for her by Moon.

Several key events occurred, which raised public awareness of the New Age subculture: the production of the musical Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical ( 1967 ) with its opening song " Aquarius " and its memorable line " This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius "; publication of Linda Goodman's best-selling astrology books Sun Signs ( 1968 ) and Love Signs ( 1978 ); the release of Shirley MacLaine's book Out on a Limb ( 1983 ), later adapted into a television mini-series with the same name ( 1987 ); and the " Harmonic Convergence " planetary alignment on August 16 and 17, 1987, organized by José Argüelles at Sedona in the U. S. state of Arizona.
