The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine ( DFLP ) ( Arabic: ' الجبهة الديموقراطية لتحرير فلسطين ', transliterated Al-Jabha al-Dimuqratiya Li-Tahrir Filastin ) is a Palestinian Marxist-Leninist, secular political and military organization.

The First Intifada ( 1987 – 93 ) provoked a shift in Palestinian politics towards the Occupied Palestinian Territories, which proved a severe handicap for the largely diaspora-based DFLP.

In a meeting with 8 Jewish and 8 Protestant Dutch leaders in Israel in May 2011, a statement of cooperation was issued, indicating, for the most part, that the Protestant Church recognizes the issues involved with the Palestinian Christians and that this is sometimes at odds with support for the State of Israel, but standing up for the rights of the Palestinians does not detract from the emphasis on the safety of the State of Israel and vice versa.

The Israel-PLO Declaration of Principles on Interim Self-Government Arrangements ( the DOP, better known as the Oslo accords ), signed in Washington on 13 September 1993, provided for a transitional period not exceeding five years of Palestinian interim self-government in sections of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

The US granted a request from the Palestinian National Authority for recognition of the West Bank and Gaza as a Country in view of developments including the Israeli-PLO Declaration of Principles on Interim Self-Government Arrangements.

The British demanded that the number of Jewish recruits match the number of Palestinian Arab recruits but very few Arabs were willing to fight for Britain.

This situation caused the US to withdraw their support for the Partition plan, thus encouraging the Arab League to believe that the Palestinian Arabs, reinforced by the Arab Liberation Army, could put an end to the plan for partition.

Among his many other responsibilities he took over direction of Musa Alami's Arab Development Society in Jericho, which took boys out of Palestinian refugee camps to teach them agricultural and other skills.

During the last term, she was chairman of the Delegation for relations with the Palestinian Legislative Council, member of the Committee on Development and Cooperation, of the Delegation for relations with the countries of South Asia and the South Asia Association for Regional Cooperation ; substitute member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, the Committee on International Trade and of the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality.

Currently ( 2007-2009 ) she is Vice President of the European Parliament, member of the Committee on Development, co-chair of the election coordination group, member of the Subcommittee on Human Rights, of the Delegation for relations with the Palestinian Legislative Council, of the Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly, and substitute member of the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality, of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs and of the Delegation to the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly.

International businesses based in the West Bank were expected to benefit from a state of the art web-based system for tracking goods coming in and out of the area, launched in August 2009 by Palestinian customs in partnership with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.

In recognition of their efforts the Palestinian Football Federation was awarded FIFA's inaugural Development Award.

In 2006 she was a contestant on the ITV reality show I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here !, donating the money she raised to charity Interpal ( Palestinian Relief and Development Fund ).
