Reinhard Mohn ( 29 June 1921, Gütersloh, Westphalia – 3 October 2009, Steinhagen ) was a German businessman who turned Bertelsmann, a " provincial, war-shattered German publisher ", into the sixth largest media conglomerate in the world.

Reinhard Mohn however was not involved in the company's operations during World War II.

Reinhard Mohn was recognized with the Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1994, and the Order of Merit with Star in 1998.

In a February 26, 1942, letter to German diplomat Martin Luther ( diplomat ) | Martin Luther, Reinhard Heydrich follows up on the Wannsee Conference by asking Luther for administrative assistance in the implementation of the " Endlösung der Judenfrage " ( Final Solution to the Jewish Question ).

On 31 July 1941 Göring gave written authorisation to SS-Obergruppenführer Reinhard Heydrich, Chief of the Reich Main Security Office ( RSHA ), to " make all necessary preparations " for a " total solution of the Jewish question " in all the territories under German influence, to coordinate the participation of all government organizations whose cooperation was required, and to submit a " comprehensive draft " of a plan for the " final solution of the Jewish question ".

Poppy seeds are sometimes called by their Yiddish name, spelled either mun or mon ( written מא ָ ן ) which is very similar to the German word for poppy, Mohn, as used in Mohnbrötchen.
