Among the greatest discoveries of lost objects was the 1653 accidental uncovering of Childeric I's tomb in the church of Saint Brice in Tournai.

Saint Brice of Tours ( Latin: Brictius ) ( c. 370 – 444 ) was the fourth Bishop of Tours, succeeding Martin of Tours in 397.

A new settlement close to Amathus but further inland, Agios Tychonas, is named after the bishop Saint Tychon of Amathus.

Saint Bruno of Querfurt ( c. 974 – February 14, 1009 ), also known as Brun and Boniface, is a sainted missionary bishop and martyr, who was beheaded near the border of Kievan Rus and Lithuania while trying to spread Christianity in Eastern Europe.

According to legend, the Armenian-born Saint Servatius, bishop of Tongeren, died in Maastricht in 384 and was buried there along the Roman road, outside the castrum.

Thietmar of Merseburg says that the first archbishop of Magdeburg, Saint Adalbert of Magdeburg, before being promoted to this high rank, was sent by Emperor Otto to the country of the Rus ' ( Rusciae ) as a simple bishop but was expelled by pagan allies of Svyatoslav I.

The recipients of these letters included Philippe de Cabassoles, bishop of Cavaillon ; Ildebrandino Conti, bishop of Padua ; Cola di Rienzo, tribune of Rome ; Francesco Nelli, priest of the Prior of the Church of the Holy Apostles in Florence ; and Niccolò di Capoccia, a cardinal and priest of Saint Vitalis.

Pope Saint Sixtus I was bishop of Rome from about 114 or 119 to 124 or 128 C. E., succeeding Pope Alexander I and succeeded by Pope Telesphorus.

He also ordained Saint Willibrord as bishop of the Frisians, and the Liber Pontificalis states he also ordained Berhtwald as Archbishop of Canterbury.

In 1904 he became the first Orthodox bishop to be consecrated in North America ; the consecration was performed by Archbishop ( Saint ) Tikhon of Moscow and Bishop Innocent in New York City.

Maybe raided from 711 to 739 by the Arabs, the bishopric of Iria was incorporated into the Kingdom of Asturias c. 750 ; some tens of years later, at some point between 818 and 842, bishop Theodemar of Iria ( d. 847 ), found some remains which were attributed to Saint James the Greater, during the reign of Alfonso II of Asturias.

He was made Abbot of Saint Martin's at Tours in 796, where he remained until his death.

At Tours he visited the tomb of Saint Martin and sent a message to Thierry predicting that, within three years, he and his children would perish.

Peter the Deacon gives a list of some seventy books Desiderius had copied at Monte Cassino, including works of Saint Augustine, Saint Ambrose, Saint Bede, Saint Basil, Saint Jerome, Saint Gregory of Nazianzus and Cassian, the registers of Popes Felix and Leo, the histories of Josephus, Paul Warnfrid, Jordanes and Saint Gregory of Tours, the Institutes and Novels of Justinian, the works of Terence, Virgil and Seneca, Cicero's De natura deorum, and Ovid's Fasti.

Tradition holds that Ninian was a Briton who had studied in Rome, that he established an episcopal see at the Candida Casa in Whithorn, that he named the see for Saint Martin of Tours, that he converted the southern Picts to Christianity, and that he is buried at Whithorn.

Bede says that Ninian was a Briton who had been instructed in Rome ; that he made his church of stone, which was unusual among the Britons ; that his episcopal see was named after Saint Martin of Tours ; that he preached to and converted the southern Picts ; that his base was at " hwit ærn ", which was in the province of the Bernicians ; and that he was buried there, along with many other saints.

Leaving aside the tales regarding miracles, in the Vita Sancti Niniani Ailred includes the following incidental information regarding Saint Ninian: that his father was a Christian king ; that he was consecrated a bishop in Rome and that he met Saint Martin in Tours ; that Saint Martin sent masons with him on his homeward journey, at his request ; that these masons built a church of stone, situated on the shore, and on learning of Saint Martin's death, Ninian dedicated the church to him ; that a certain rich and powerful " King Tuduvallus " was converted by him ; that he died after having converted the Picts and returned home, being buried in a stone sarcophagus near the altar of his church ; and that he had once travelled with a holy person named " Plebia ".

He is known for his chronicle of sacred history, as well as his biography of Saint Martin of Tours.

At this time Severus came under the powerful influence of Saint Martin, bishop of Tours, by whom he was led to devote his wealth to the Christian poor, and his own powers to a life of good works and meditation.

This space, organized between Saint Martin and the Loire, became the economic centre of Tours.
