While in Rome for Otto's imperial coronation, Bruno met Saint Adalbert of Prague, the first Apostle of the Prussians, killed a year later, which inspired Bruno to write a biography of St Adalbert when he reached the recently Christianized and consolidated Kingdom of Hungary himself.

Bruno spent much time at the monastery where Adalbert had become a monk and where abbot John Canaparius may have written a life of Saint Adalbert.

The Carthusian Order, also called the Order of Saint Bruno, is a Roman Catholic religious order of enclosed monastics.

The order was founded by Saint Bruno of Cologne in 1084 and includes both monks and nuns.

The name Carthusian is derived from the Chartreuse Mountains ; Saint Bruno built his first hermitage in the valley of these mountains in the French Alps.

Pope Saint Leo IX ( 21 June 1002 – 19 April 1054 ), born Bruno of Egisheim-Dagsburg, was Pope from 12 February 1049 to his death.

His stay in the city is marked by two characteristic and important productions: the superb écorché ( 1767 ), an anatomical model which has served as a guide to all artists since his day, and the statue of Saint Bruno in the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri in Rome.

It was probably derived from a Germanization ( Brus-berg and Brunsberg ) of the older Prussian name, or possibly named after Saint Bruno of Querfurt, who had been martyred on the Kievan Rus ' border in 1009.

He reached the zenith of his career with a succession of classic films such as, Strangers on a Train ( 1951 ) which is about two train passengers: tennis pro Guy ( Farley Granger ) and Bruno ( Robert Walker ) who staged a battle of wits and traded murders with each other, Dial M For Murder ( 1954 ) with Ray Milland as a villainous husband who attempts to murder his wealthy wife ( Grace Kelly ), Rear Window ( 1954 ) which is about man ( James Stewart ) being convinced that his neighbour is a killer, To Catch a Thief ( 1955 ), a lightweight thriller set in South of France, Vertigo ( 1958 ), with James Stewart as a retired police detective who becomes obsessed with the disturbed enigmatic ' wife ' ( Kim Novak ) of an old friend, and North by Northwest in which an advertising executive ( Cary Grant ) is mistaken for a non-existent spy and chased across the country while aided by a mysterious woman ( Eva Marie Saint ).

Although canon 603 makes no provison for associations of hermits, these do exist ( for example the " Hermits of Bethlehem " in Chester NJ and the " Hermits of Saint Bruno " in the U. S. A .; see also lavra, skete ).

In 1084, Saint Hugh gave it to hermit Saint Bruno and his followers who founded the Carthusian Order.

At one time Bishop Bruno was proposed to have been father of Agatha, wife of Edward the Exile and the grandfather of another saint: Saint Margaret of Scotland, but this solution to Agatha's parentage has passed out of favour.

Saint Bruno of Cologne ( Cologne, c. 1030 – Serra San Bruno, 6 October 1101 ), the founder of the Carthusian Order, personally founded the order's first two communities.

Since the Carthusian Order maintains a strict observance of humility, Saint Bruno was never formally canonized.

Saint Bruno has long been regarded the patron saint of Calabria.

Aurelius Ambrosius, better known in English as Saint Ambrose ( c. 330 – 4 April 397 ), was an archbishop of Milan who became one of the most influential ecclesiastical figures of the 4th century.

Saint Adalbert, Czech: ;, ( c. 956 – April 23, 997 ), Czech Roman Catholic saint, a Bishop of Prague and a missionary, was martyred in his efforts to convert the Baltic Prussians.

He was soon producing some spectacular and original images, notably Nemesis ( 1502 ), The Sea Monster ( 1498 ), and Saint Eustace ( c. 1501 ), with a highly detailed landscape background and animals.
