Gospel legend Mahalia Jackson sang " How I Got Over ", musician Bob Dylan performed several songs, including " Only a Pawn in Their Game ", about the culturally fed racial hatred amongst Southern whites that led to the assassination of Medgar Evers ; and " When the Ship Comes In ", during which he was joined by fellow folk singer Joan Baez, who earlier had led the crowds in several verses of " We Shall Overcome " and " Oh Freedom ".

According to the Gospel of Matthew, at the death of Jesus tombs were opened, and at his resurrection many saints who had died emerged from their tombs and went into " the holy city ", presumably New Jerusalem.

In the New Testament of the Christian Bible, it appears in two forms: in the Gospel of Matthew as part of the discourse on ostentation in the Sermon on the Mount, and in the Gospel of Luke, which records Jesus being approached by " one of his disciples " with a request to teach them " to pray as John taught his disciples.

The often referred to Interpreter ’ s Dictionary of the Bible, a book written to prove the validity of the New Testament, says: ” A study of 150 Greek of the Gospel of Luke has revealed more than 30, 000 different readings ...

These readings are most often part of an established lectionary ( i. e., selected texts to be read at church services on specific days ), and ( together with an Old Testament reading and a Psalm ) include a non-gospel reading from the New Testament and culminate with a Gospel reading.

Of the Gospels in the New Testament, the Gospel of Luke compares Noah's Flood with the coming Day of Judgement: “ Just as it was in the days of Noah, so too it will be in the days of the coming of the Son of Man .”

The Second Epistle of John, often referred to as Second John and often written 2 John, is a book of the New Testament attributed to John the Evangelist, traditionally thought to be the author of the Gospel of John and the other two epistles of John.

Although many assume that the biblical Mark the Cousin of Barnabas ( Colossians 4: 10 ) is the same as John Mark ( Acts 12: 12, 25 ; 13: 5, 13 ; 15: 37 ) and Mark the Evangelist, the traditionally believed author of the Gospel of Mark, according to Hippolytus of Rome, the three " Mark " s are distinct persons.

Involuntary demonic assault, according to these theologians, cannot be denied because this would imply the negation of the cases mentioned in the New Testament ( 12, some of them repeated in more than one Gospel ).

Lastly, Eusebius quotes ( vi. 12. 2 ) from a pamphlet Serapion wrote concerning the Docetic Gospel of Peter, in which Serapion presents an argument to the Christian community of Rhossus in Syria against this gospel and condemns it:

In Christianity, the outer darkness is a place referred to three times in the Gospel of Matthew ( 8: 12, 22: 13, and 25: 30 ) into which a person may be " cast out ", and where there is " weeping and gnashing of teeth ".

According to Eusebius Hegesippus said Matthew's Gospel was written in Syriac ( Ecclesiastical History 3: 22-24 ) a view Eusebius shared ( Theophania 4: 12 ).
