Historical studies, official accounts, memoirs and textbooks published in the Soviet Union used that depiction of events until the Soviet Union's dissolution.

In 1963, the Chinese Communist Party began to openly denounce the Soviet Union, publishing a series of nine polemics against its Marxist revisionism, with one of them being titled On Khrushchev's Phoney Communism and Historical Lessons for the World, in which Mao charged that Khrushchev was not only a revisionist but also increased the danger of capitalist restoration.

This time they gained nineteen seats and the party entered government alongside the Protestant Anti Revolutionary Party ( ARP ), Christian Historical Union CHU and the Roman Catholic KVP.

They were joined by individuals from Catholic resistance group Christofoor and the Protestant parties Christian Historical Union ( CHU ) and Anti Revolutionary Party ( ARP ).

It was a merger from the Catholic People's Party, which was part of all cabinets since World War II, and the Anti Revolutionary Party and the Christian Historical Union.

The cooperation was not without problems and in 1894 the more anti-papist and aristocratic conservatives left the Protestant Anti Revolutionary Party, to found the Christian Historical Union.

After the war the three Christian-democratic parties were the Catholic People's Party ( KVP ), the Protestant Anti Revolutionary Party ( ARP ), and the Protestant Christian Historical Union ( CHU ).

More than 200 days after the election, the Christian Democratic Appeal ( a new party that was formed by Den Uyl's former coalition-members Catholic People's Party and Anti Revolutionary Party, joined by the smaller Christian Historical Union ) formed a cabinet with the liberal People's Party for Freedom and Democracy, supported by a small majority of 77 seats ( out of a total of 150 ).

In 1980 the party merged with the Catholic People's Party ( KVP ) and the Christian Historical Union ( CHU ) to form the Christian Democratic Appeal ( CDA ).

The split results in the foundation of the Free Anti Revolutionary Party in 1898, which would become the Christian Historical Union in 1904.

With the split between the ARP and the Christian Historical Union the terms began to gain their own separate meanings.

Because of the philosophy of anti-thesis it has strong links with the Catholic parties ( General League / Roman-Catholic State Party / Catholic People's Party ( KVP ) and the Christian Historical Union ( CHU ).
