Reportedly, the two differed on aspects of character development, with Hitchcock claiming that Uris hadn't humanised the villains of the story.

In the Fifth Doctor story Resurrection of the Daleks, a small Dalek force aided by human mercenaries and Dalek duplicates liberates Davros ( now played by Terry Molloy, with a new mask designed by Stan Mitchell ) from his space station prison, needing his expertise to find an antidote for a Movellan-created virus that has all but wiped them out.

However, at the end of the story, he apparently succumbs to the virus himself before he can escape, his physiology being close enough to that of the Daleks for the virus to affect him.

Davros emerges as " The Great Healer " of the funeral and cryogenic preservation centre Tranquil Repose on the planet Necros in the Sixth Doctor story Revelation of the Daleks, where he uses frozen bodies to engineer a new variety of Daleks loyal to him, distinguished from the original Daleks by their white and gold livery and slightly changed design.

Such authoritarian dystopias are common in Terry Nation's work, such his Doctor Who story, Genesis of the Daleks.

That story especially includes Daleks conquering the earth and then occupying it along with other stolen worlds to initiate their stratagem for universal destruction.

In the story, it is revealed that Romana II was abducted by the Daleks soon after assuming the presidential office, and remained in captivity for twenty years before making her escape, briefly reuniting with the Doctor before reassuming her post.

Skaro's final appearance in the classic series ( in the chronology of the Doctor Who universe ) is in the story Remembrance of the Daleks, in which the Seventh Doctor tricked Davros and his " pure Imperial Daleks " into stealing the Hand of Omega.

Skaro is also the setting for the Peter Cushing feature film Dr. Who and the Daleks ( 1965 ) which is generally regarded as non-canonical, although the story in the film is a copy ( with some changes ) of the serial The Daleks ( naturally shortened since a feature film does not have the same running time as a 7-episode serial ).

In the fourth season ( 1966 – 67 ) Doctor Who story " The Power of the Daleks ", second incarnation of the Doctor, played by Patrick Troughton, awakens from his first regeneration and eventually faces one of his old nemeses, the Daleks, a race of armed robotic tank shells with organic operators.

In the fifth series ( 2010 ) Doctor Who story " Victory of the Daleks ", the Daleks creates a human-cyborg scientist ' Bracewell ', that is implanted in to the British scientific community to develop technology for the war effort.

His scripts for the series include The Crusade ( 1965 ), The Power of the Daleks ( 1966 ) and The Evil of the Daleks ( 1967 ), The Enemy of the World ( 1967 / 8 ) and The Wheel in Space ( 1968, from a story by Kit Pedler ), all highly regarded by admirers of the series.

His book, Doctor Who in an Exciting Adventure with the Daleks, was based upon Terry Nation's teleplay for the first Dalek story.
