The Toi invasion ( Japanese: toi no nyūkō ) was the invasion of northern Kyūshū by Jurchen pirates in 1019.

An earlier name applied to the area was Ngā Kopi Ō Toi (' The Karaka Berries of Toi '), named for a Karaka grove said by tradition to have been brought to Tāmaki from the Chatham Islands and planted in the vicinity of Greenmount by Toi Te Huatahi.

In 2004, more space was devoted to exhibiting works from the New Zealand art collection in a long-term exhibition called Toi Te Papa: Art of the Nation.

On April 1, 2004 Toi was merged with the towns of Amagiyugashima, Nakaizu and Shuzenji, all from Tagata District, to form the new city of Izu.

Toi is also home to the Toi gold mine, the second most productive gold mine in Japan after Sado, Niigata.

Sung Wong Toi is an important historic relic in Kowloon, Hong Kong.

While its remaining portion is currently located in the Sung Wong Toi Garden in Ma Tau Wai, it was originally a 45 m tall boulder standing on the top of Sacred Hill ( 聖山 ) in Ma Tau Chung above Kowloon Bay.

The name Sung Wong Toi literally means Terrace of the Sung kings.
