A GameSpot review by Jeff Gerstmann described the game as outstanding.

In a review of the Virtual Console game, GameSpot criticized the NES version for being a poor port of the arcade version.

GameSpot highlighted this issue in their review: " By the time you're driving forklifts and participating in the game's QTE-filled conclusion, hours upon hours of boredom will have taken their toll.

GameSpot said in their review that the music was in some cases better than the original, such as the boardwalk levels of Lake Orangatanga.

" In a review for the PC version's altered soundtrack, fellow GameSpot reviewer Andrew Park felt that the new music was fitting for the game.

As Greg Kasavin from GameSpot writes in his June 24, 2002 review: " Some games are memorable, but years from now, people won't just remember Neverwinter Nights -- they'll also still be playing.

In his review for GameSpot, Frank Provo found it " absolutely astonishing that Nintendo let 13 years go by before making Super Metroid readily available again ", but considered the most important thing was that players " can now play this masterpiece without having to track down the original Super Nintendo Entertainment System cartridge or fumble with legally questionable emulators ".

" In the GameSpot review, Ron Dulin gave the game a 6. 0 score ( out of ten ) and stated that it was " an interesting mood piece, built upon some very detailed graphic work and an interesting premise — but somewhere along the production line, someone forgot to include a game.

GameSpot thought that the humor that the game offered included many excellent self-referential jokes, and TeamXbox concluded its review by predicting that the game would be extremely appealing to gamers, especially hardcore Simpsons fans.

In the review from GameSpot, the game was found to feature " some occasionally frustrating battles, adds only minor gameplay enhancements, and takes a few additional liberties with AD & D rules ," but the new areas and game content were found to be well-designed and interesting.

However, GameSpot gave it a mixed review, criticized the strategy saying " The presentation is terribly stripped-down, and as an odd duck sort of hybrid strategy game, it doesn't offer much accessibility or depth.

In another review, GameSpot related ' Because of its dated graphics, ineffective controls, and flawed gameplay, Force Commander falls short of its ambitious intent.

According to the GameSpot review, " The original Aliens Versus Predator 2 was a much better game, and you'd be better off going back and playing it again instead.

In his review of the Virtual Console re-release of Super Mario Bros., GameSpot editor Jeff Gerstmann stated that Lakitus " are still awesome.

Alex Navarro of GameSpot declared that Big Rigs is " as bad as your mind will allow you to comprehend "; later in his review, Navarro added, " Please do not play this game.

" The GameSpot review mentioned the game's " Prince of Persia-inspired feats ", however " the only difficult part about Stolen is finding the patience to actually remain hidden when it's easier to just charge through the levels.

GameSpot stated that the variety of courses " take the Jet Moto series yet another step away from the traditional racer.

On August 3, 2007, GameSpot reported that Variety confirmed Return to Castle Wolfenstein and that the writer / producer team that was involved with Silent Hill will be involved with the Wolfenstein project.

" GameSpot also saw it as an improvement to the series, stating " the levels in Sonic 3 offer more interaction than those in previous games, in the form of such things as zip lines, fireman's poles, and giant tree trunks that you can climb by running upward inside of them.

The game received very positive reviews, obtaining a 89 / 100 score according to Metacritic, including 8. 9 / 10 by IGN (" the best weapons-based fighter on PlayStation ") and 8. 3 / 10 by GameSpot (" a great fighting game with its share of flaws ").

Much praise was given to the quality of Doom 3s graphics and presentation ; GameSpot described the game's environments as " convincingly lifelike, densely atmospheric, and surprisingly expansive ", while PC Gamer UK described the graphics and non-player character modeling and animation as simply " flawless ", stating that Doom 3 signalled the return of the Doom franchise to the forefront of the computer and video game industry, eleven years after the release of the original Doom.

On January 9, 2006, GameSpot reported that Electronic Arts had renewed its trademark protection on the System Shock name, leading to speculation that System Shock 3 might be under development.

GameSpot reviewer Frank Provo gave the game an 8. 2 out of ten, stating " Sonic Advance 2 is easily the toughest 2D Sonic game ever made ", where as GameSpy reviewer Christian Nutt called Sonic Advance 2 " a solid adventure with some niggling flaws ", and gave the game a 3 out of 5.

GameSpot granted the game a score of 9. 8 / 10 and stated, " As far as platformers go, Wario Land 3 is a game that fires on all cylinders.

Alex Navarro of GameSpot gave the game a score of 8. 3 and wrote " while ( the game ) may prove to be a bit too fleeting for anyone seeking a long-lasting gameplay experience and the additional gameplay modes are a bit too restrictive in the design for what they're supposed to be, the game is still great fun and is definitely worth playing through long after you've beaten it the first time " Justin Leeper of Game Informer, who gave the game an overall score of 9, wrote " It ’ s still no 30-hour marathon, but Atlus has added a whole lot to an already-excellent beat ‘ em up ".

GameSpot gave Titans an 8. 3 out of 10, and commented " There's plenty more depth to be found here since having a brand-new civilization with three new primary gods creates many more ... new strategies.

It received poor reviews from publications such as GameSpot whose editor Jeff Gerstmann gave it a 3. 5 out of 10 due to how different the game is from the other ports and how unresponsive the controls are.

Reaction from GameSpot was also positive, with the game being given a rating of 7. 3.

Among these positive responses are the reviews from GameSpot and IGN, which gave Tekken 5 a 9. 2 / 10 and 9. 3 / 10 respectively.

GameSpot praised the copy ability and the gameplay, but criticized the length of the game, saying " Can beat the game in a single evening ", with a total score of 7. 3 out of 10.

GameSpot stated " Once you get past its graphics, you'll find that Dead or Alive 3 doesn't offer much of anything that hasn't been done in other 3D fighting games ," giving the game a rating of 7. 9 / 10.

" GameSpot gave the game a score of 1. 3 out of 10, making it the fourth lowest rated game by GameSpot, declaring that " This is easily the worst game I've ever played ... it serves no purpose other than to firmly establish the bottom of the barrel ".

GameSpot gave the game 8. 3 / 10, and stated " In the video and audio departments, Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha is pretty solid.

According to GameSpot, both versions were derived from a planned ClayFighter 3 on the cancelled Matsushita M2 console.

GameSpot awarded the game an 8. 3 / 10. 0, earning it the rank of " Great ".

GameSpot gave the game a 7. 3 out of 10, stating that " while Evil Genius ' dry, campy humor is often amusing from the start, it takes quite a bit of time and effort to pull off acts of infamy and establish your notoriety among global powers " and states " Evil Genius is hampered by some frustratingly haphazard pacing as well as issues with the artificial intelligence of your minions.
