Seven Founders -- George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay -- determined the destinies of the new nation.

If Franklin was an authentic genius, then Alexander Hamilton, with his exceptional precocity, consuming energy, and high ambition, was a political prodigy.

Benjamin Franklin, James Madison and Thomas Jefferson followed Machiavelli's republicanism when they opposed what they saw as the emerging aristocracy that they feared Alexander Hamilton was creating with the Federalist Party.

The " Founding Fathers " were strong advocates of republican values, especially Samuel Adams, Patrick Henry, Thomas Paine, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and Alexander Hamilton.

George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, Benjamin Franklin, and John Adams are also said to have appreciated the qualities of Madeira.

John Adams owned none ; George Washington freed his slaves in his will ( his wife independently held numerous dower slaves ); Thomas Jefferson freed five slaves in his will, and the remaining 130 were sold to settle his estate debts ; James Madison did not free his slaves but some were sold to pay off estate debts, and his wife and son retained most to work Montpelier plantation ; Benjamin Franklin freed his slaves ; Alexander Hamilton likely owned slaves and freed them, as he was an officer of the New York Manumission Society ; the society was founded by John Jay, who freed his domestic slaves in 1798, the same year as governor he signed a gradual abolition law in New York.

* The town of Keysville was an on location site ( the train station served as a recreated Warm Springs, GA ) for filming during the production of the 1976 TV movie Eleanor & Franklin, starring Jane Alexander and Edward Herrmann.

James was born Alexander Franklin James in Kearney, Missouri to Baptist minister Reverend Robert Sallee James and his wife Zerelda ( Cole ) James, who had moved from Kentucky.

Alexander portrayed Eleanor Roosevelt in two television productions, Eleanor and Franklin ( 1976 ) and Eleanor and Franklin: The White House Years ( 1977 ); and she played FDR's mother, Sara Delano Roosevelt, in HBO's Warm Springs ( 2005 ) with Kenneth Branagh and Cynthia Nixon, a role which garnered her an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
