2 Maccabees 2: 4-10, written around 100 BC, says that the prophet Jeremiah, " being warned by God " before the Babylonian invasion, took the Ark, the Tabernacle, and the Altar of Incense, and buried them in a cave on Mount Nebo ( Jordan ), informing those of his followers who wished to find the place that it should remain unknown " until the time that God should gather His people again together, and receive them unto mercy.

Christian alternative music has its roots in the early 1980s, as the earliest efforts at Christian punk and new wave were recorded by artists like Andy McCarroll and Moral Support, Undercover, The 77s, Adam Again, Quickflight, Daniel Amos, Youth Choir ( later renamed The Choir ), Lifesavers Underground, Michael Knott, The Altar Boys, Breakfast with Amy, Steve Taylor, 4-4-1, David Edwards and Vector.

# Machen: The fourth Heaven is ruled by the Archangel Michael, and according to Talmud Hagiga 12, it contains the heavenly Jerusalem, the Temple, and the Altar.

Chapter VIII ( Miracula Mundi ) contains the following, the only reference by an ancient writer to the famous sculptures of the Pergamon Altar, which were discovered in 1871, excavated in 1878, and are now in Berlin:

To date, a complete map of the area has been made, including not only the Ash Altar and temenos, but also two fountains, including the Hagno fountain mentioned by Pausanias, the hippodrome, the stadium, a building that was probably a bathhouse, the xenon ( hotel ), a stoa, several rows of seats, and a group of statue bases.

* The Ara Pacis (" Altar of Augustan Peace "), voted by the Senate four years earlier, is dedicated.

* The Ara Pacis Augustae (" Altar of Augustan Peace "), is commissioned by the Roman Senate to honor the triumphal return of emperor Augustus from Hispania and Gaul.

The Pergamon Altar ( c. 180-160 BC ) has a frieze ( 120 metres long by 2. 3 metres high ) of figures in very high relief.

The Altar was built in 1530 by the Jiajing Emperor and rebuilt in 1740.

The number nine represents the Emperor and is evident in the design of the Circular Mound Altar: a single round marmor plate is surrounded by a ring of nine plates, then a ring of 18 plates, and so on for a total of nine surrounding rings, the outermost having 9 × 9 plates.

Although the passage in the Book of Daniel internally claims to be a prophecy dictated to Daniel by Gabriel during the Babylonian captivity, some modern scholars believe that the Book was pseudepigraphically written in the mid-2nd century BC, and that rather than being a genuine prophecy the passage was a postdiction, written as a polemic against the shrine to Zeus set up in the temple in 168 BC by Antiochus IV Epiphanes, which had a pagan altar added onto the Altar of the Holocausts < ref > Souvay, Charles.

Buoyed by this instruction, the pagan senators, led by Aurelius Symmachus, the Prefect of Rome, petitioned in 384 for the restoration of the Altar of Victory in the Senate House, which had been removed by Gratian in 382.

Others view these fanciful names with skepticism ; Sigurd Towrie suggests that " they were simply erroneous terms applied by the antiquarians of the 18th or 19th centuries-romantic additions, in the same vein as the infamous " Druid's Circle " and " Sacrificial Altar ".

Even the early Christian Emperors continued to use it ; it was only relinquished by Gratian, possibly in AD 376 at the time of his visit to Rome, or more probably in 383 when a delegation of pagan senators implored him to restore the Altar of Victory in the Senate House.

According to legend, a round marble altar, Altar of Dis Pater and Proserpina (), was miraculously discovered by the servants of a Sabine called Valesius, the ancestor of the first consul.

That Livy's euhemerist and realist deflation of this myth, so central to the origins of Rome, was not general is demonstrated by the recurring theme of Mars discovering Rhea Silvia – the Latinists ' " invention " ( to come upon ) of Rhea Silvia " – in Roman arts: in bas-relief on the Casali Altar ( Vatican Museums ), in engraved couched glass on the Portland Vase ( British Museum ), or on a sarcophagus in the Palazzo Mattei.

Over the years, McTaggart has created covers and other artwork for albums by DA, Jon Gibson, Altar Boys, Veil of Ashes, Scaterd Few, Mad at the World, Tom Stipe, Grand Funk Railroad's Mark Farner, Stephen Crumbacher, Rick Elias, Lost Dogs, Lifesavers Underground, Terry Scott Taylor and many others.

In 1278, the remains were reburied with great ceremony, attended by King Edward I and his queen, before the High Altar at Glastonbury Abbey, where they were the focus of pilgrimages until the Reformation.

The parts that are said aloud are all chanted, except that the Prayers at the Foot of the Altar, which before the reform of Pope Pius V were said in the sacristy, are said quietly by the bishop with the deacon and the subdeacon, while the choir sings the Introit.

There are two side altars, one for Mary ( mother of Jesus ) ( to the left of the Main Altar ) and one for Joseph ( to the right of the Main Altar ).

The " Panunuluyan " takes place in several houses and is done in singing until it reaches the 300 year old St. Mary Magdalene Church of Kawit where the Virgin Mary and Joseph are welcomed by angels in a giant " belen " ( Nativity Scene ) which covers the whole Retablo or Altar of the church.

The beautiful Italian custom and hand-made papier-mâché Christmas Crèche was acquired at this time as well — with the help of the Mark and Alicia Barry Family, and In Memory of Frank and Catherine Gleason — this work of art graces St. Joseph ’ s Altar — redecorated for Christmas to this day.
