To date, a complete map of the area has been made, including not only the Ash Altar and temenos, but also two fountains, including the Hagno fountain mentioned by Pausanias, the hippodrome, the stadium, a building that was probably a bathhouse, the xenon ( hotel ), a stoa, several rows of seats, and a group of statue bases.

Following his beatification, his sarcophagus was placed under the Altar of St. Sebastian in the basilica's Chapel of St. Sebastian, where it remained until 8 April 2011 when it was moved to make way for the remains of Blessed Pope John Paul II ( 1978 – 2005 ) to be relocated to the basilica from the grotto beneath St. Peter's in honor of his beatification and in order to make his resting place more accessible to the public.

Innocent's body was transferred to the basilica's Altar of Transfiguration, which is located near the Clementine Chapel and the entombed remains of Pope St. Gregory the Great ( 590 – 604 ).

What was to become known as the Altar Stone ( 1 ), is almost certainly derived from either Carmarthenshire or the Brecon Beacons and may have stood as a single large monolith.

Their eldest son Andreas was born there before 1477, when Stoss moved to Kraków, the royal capital of Poland, where he was commissioned to produce the enormous polychrome wooden Altar of Veit Stoss ( Ołtarz Wita Stwosza ) at St Mary's Church in Kraków.

During World War II, on the order of Hans Frank – the Governor-General of that region of occupied Poland – the dismantled Altar was shipped to the Third Reich around 1941.

The High Altar underwent major restoration work in Poland and was put back in its place at the Basilica only 10 years later.

She was buried in Westminster Abbey, in an unmarked grave to the right of the High Altar, next to the door to the Confessor's Chapel.

The other High Resaissance master Raphael was also active in Perugia and painted his famous Oddi Altar there in 1502-04.

Hans von Kulmbach was the artist who created the Kraków St. John's Altar.

Construction of the choir took from 1163 until around 1177 and the new High Altar was consecrated in 1182 ( it was normal practice for the eastern end of a new church to be completed first, so that a temporary wall could be erected at the west of the choir, allowing the chapter to use it without interruption while the rest of the building slowly took shape ).

The Reims Cathedral was decorated to portray the union of Altar and Throne, and Charles Percier, the architect, adorned the building with Neo-Gothic décor, in a style that evoked the Middle Ages, rather than the Roman-influenced " Empire style " that he was renowned for.

Outside Lugdunum was the Condate Altar, where representatives of the Three Gauls met to celebrate the cult of Rome and Augustus.

Although the passage in the Book of Daniel internally claims to be a prophecy dictated to Daniel by Gabriel during the Babylonian captivity, some modern scholars believe that the Book was pseudepigraphically written in the mid-2nd century BC, and that rather than being a genuine prophecy the passage was a postdiction, written as a polemic against the shrine to Zeus set up in the temple in 168 BC by Antiochus IV Epiphanes, which had a pagan altar added onto the Altar of the Holocausts < ref > Souvay, Charles.

St. Dunstan was buried on the south side of the High Altar.

At the same time, some of the stained glass in the clerestory was removed and replaced with grisaille windows, greatly increasing the illumination of the High Altar.

In another version of the myth, as depicted on the interior frieze of the Pergamon Altar, Telephus was married to the Amazon Hiera.

Even the early Christian Emperors continued to use it ; it was only relinquished by Gratian, possibly in AD 376 at the time of his visit to Rome, or more probably in 383 when a delegation of pagan senators implored him to restore the Altar of Victory in the Senate House.

In 1938 Benito Mussolini built a protective building for the Altar, as it had been reconstructed by Vittorio Ballio Morpurgo, near the Mausoleum of Augustus ( moving the Altar in the process ) as part of his attempt to create an ancient Roman " theme park " to glorify Fascist Italy.

With a design by the painter Jacques-Louis David, a massive " Altar of the Nation " was built atop an artificial mountain and surmounted by a " Tree of Liberty ".

The Campus Martius also held the Ara Pacis ( Altar of Peace ), built by the Senate to mark the establishment of peace by Augustus.

The Pergamon Altar is a monumental construction built during the reign of King Eumenes II in the first half of the 2nd century BC on one of the terraces of the acropolis of the ancient city of Pergamon in Asia Minor.

For example, an Order-aligned town can build either an Altar of Wishes ( produces Genies ) or a Golden Pavilion ( produces Nāgas ), but because Genies and Nagas are both level three creatures, both structures cannot be built at the same time.

The Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II ( National Monument to Victor Emmanuel II ) or Altare della Patria ( Altar of the Fatherland ) or " Il Vittoriano " is a monument built to honour Victor Emmanuel, the first king of a unified Italy, located in Rome, Italy.

The Altar of Reservation was built in 1902.

2 Maccabees 2: 4-10, written around 100 BC, says that the prophet Jeremiah, " being warned by God " before the Babylonian invasion, took the Ark, the Tabernacle, and the Altar of Incense, and buried them in a cave on Mount Nebo ( Jordan ), informing those of his followers who wished to find the place that it should remain unknown " until the time that God should gather His people again together, and receive them unto mercy.

Christian alternative music has its roots in the early 1980s, as the earliest efforts at Christian punk and new wave were recorded by artists like Andy McCarroll and Moral Support, Undercover, The 77s, Adam Again, Quickflight, Daniel Amos, Youth Choir ( later renamed The Choir ), Lifesavers Underground, Michael Knott, The Altar Boys, Breakfast with Amy, Steve Taylor, 4-4-1, David Edwards and Vector.

# Machen: The fourth Heaven is ruled by the Archangel Michael, and according to Talmud Hagiga 12, it contains the heavenly Jerusalem, the Temple, and the Altar.

Chapter VIII ( Miracula Mundi ) contains the following, the only reference by an ancient writer to the famous sculptures of the Pergamon Altar, which were discovered in 1871, excavated in 1878, and are now in Berlin:

* The Ara Pacis (" Altar of Augustan Peace "), voted by the Senate four years earlier, is dedicated.

* The Ara Pacis Augustae (" Altar of Augustan Peace "), is commissioned by the Roman Senate to honor the triumphal return of emperor Augustus from Hispania and Gaul.

The Pergamon Altar ( c. 180-160 BC ) has a frieze ( 120 metres long by 2. 3 metres high ) of figures in very high relief.

The number nine represents the Emperor and is evident in the design of the Circular Mound Altar: a single round marmor plate is surrounded by a ring of nine plates, then a ring of 18 plates, and so on for a total of nine surrounding rings, the outermost having 9 × 9 plates.

Buoyed by this instruction, the pagan senators, led by Aurelius Symmachus, the Prefect of Rome, petitioned in 384 for the restoration of the Altar of Victory in the Senate House, which had been removed by Gratian in 382.

Others view these fanciful names with skepticism ; Sigurd Towrie suggests that " they were simply erroneous terms applied by the antiquarians of the 18th or 19th centuries-romantic additions, in the same vein as the infamous " Druid's Circle " and " Sacrificial Altar ".

According to legend, a round marble altar, Altar of Dis Pater and Proserpina (), was miraculously discovered by the servants of a Sabine called Valesius, the ancestor of the first consul.

That Livy's euhemerist and realist deflation of this myth, so central to the origins of Rome, was not general is demonstrated by the recurring theme of Mars discovering Rhea Silvia – the Latinists ' " invention " ( to come upon ) of Rhea Silvia " – in Roman arts: in bas-relief on the Casali Altar ( Vatican Museums ), in engraved couched glass on the Portland Vase ( British Museum ), or on a sarcophagus in the Palazzo Mattei.

Over the years, McTaggart has created covers and other artwork for albums by DA, Jon Gibson, Altar Boys, Veil of Ashes, Scaterd Few, Mad at the World, Tom Stipe, Grand Funk Railroad's Mark Farner, Stephen Crumbacher, Rick Elias, Lost Dogs, Lifesavers Underground, Terry Scott Taylor and many others.

In 1278, the remains were reburied with great ceremony, attended by King Edward I and his queen, before the High Altar at Glastonbury Abbey, where they were the focus of pilgrimages until the Reformation.

The parts that are said aloud are all chanted, except that the Prayers at the Foot of the Altar, which before the reform of Pope Pius V were said in the sacristy, are said quietly by the bishop with the deacon and the subdeacon, while the choir sings the Introit.
