Among the most noted recent works, there is the writer, the swallows of Kabul and the attack of Yasmina Khadra, the oath of barbarians of Boualem Sansal, memory of the flesh of Ahlam Mosteghanemi and the last novel by Assia Djebar nowhere in my father's House.

Among his very numerous works two poems entitle him to a distinguished place in the Latin literature of the Middle Ages ; one of these, the De planctu naturae, is an ingenious satire on the vices of humanity.

Among Classical Greeks, amazon was given a popular etymology as from a-mazos, " without breast ", connected with an etiological tradition that Amazons had their left breast cut off or burnt out, so they would be able to use a bow more freely and throw spears without the physical limitation and obstruction ; there is no indication of such a practice in works of art, in which the Amazons are always represented with both breasts, although the left is frequently covered ( see photos in article ).

Among the more renowned of such works are the writings of Primo Levi, one of many personal accounts of the Shoah.

Among these sacred works there survives a Mass in C major written without a " Gloria " and in the antique a cappella style ( presumably for one of the church's penitential seasons ) and dated 2 August 1767.

Among critics, it is almost universally considered to be among Beethoven's greatest works, and is considered by some to be the greatest piece of music ever written.

Among Alexander's most notable built works are the Eishin Campus near Tokyo ( the building process of which is soon to be outlined in his forthcoming book Battle ); the West Dean Visitors Centre in West Sussex, England ; the Julian Street Inn ( a homeless shelter ) in San Jose, California ( both described in Nature of Order ); the Martinez House ( an experimental house in Martinez, California made of lightweight concrete ); the low-cost housing in Mexicali, Mexico ( described in The Production of Houses ); and several private houses ( described and illustrated in " The Nature of Order ").

Among his first published works were poetry, as well as writings on law and administration.

During the XII and XIII centuries many encyclopedic works have been written. Among them De proprietatibus rerum by Bartholomeus Anglicus ' ( 1240 ) was the most widely read and quoted encyclopedia in the High Middle Ages while Vincent of Beauvais's Speculum Majus ( 1260 ) was the most ambitious encyclopedia in the late-medieval period at over 3 million words.

The first encyclopedias in vernacular language were translations or abridgements of works in Latin. Among them the most famous is Li livre dou Trésor, written in French by

Among other works, Ricœur employed phenomenology in his Freud & Philosophy ( 1965 ).

Among his other works is The Grey Room, the plot of which is centered on a haunted room in an English manor house.

" Among his better known works is Economic Sophisms, which contains many strongly worded attacks on statist policies.

Among the first investigations of ferromagnetism are the pioneering works of Aleksandr Stoletov on measurement of the magnetic permeability of ferromagnetics, known as the Stoletov curve.

Among Moore's most famous works are his book Principia Ethica, and his essays, " The Refutation of Idealism ", " A Defence of Common Sense ", and " A Proof of the External World ".

Among lesser works, his additions to the Speculum of Durandus are simply an adaptation from the Consilia of Oldradus de Ponte, as is also his De Sponsalibus et Matrimonio, from Johannes Anguisciola.

Among his written works there are Siete años enterrado vivo en una de las mazmorras de Gomezuela: Horripilante relato de un resucitado ( 1932 ) and Mis prisiones, mis destierros y mi vida ( 1929 ) which talk about his many adventures while living his life as an adventurer, activist and vagabond, as well as his thought and the many times he was imprisoned in different countries.

Among the artists of the core group ( minus Bazille, who had died in the Franco-Prussian War in 1870 ), defections occurred as Cézanne, followed later by Renoir, Sisley, and Monet, abstained from the group exhibitions so they could submit their works to the Salon.

Among these sermons were his discourses on The wisdom of God manifested in the works of the creation, and Deluge and Dissolution of the World.

Among his most important works were translations of texts by Averroes.

Among the most cherished of these lighter works by Brahms are his sets of popular dances — the Hungarian Dances, the Waltzes, Op.

Among his best known works are the series Ten Studies in Female Physiognomy ; A Collection of Reigning Beauties ; Great Love Themes of Classical Poetry ( sometimes called Women in Love containing individual prints such as Revealed Love and Pensive Love ); and Twelve Hours in the Pleasure Quarters.

Among the works are the Pyxide d ' al-Mughira, a 10th century ivory box from Andalusia ; the Baptistery of Saint-Louis, an engraved brass basin from the 13th or 14 century Mamluk period ; and the 10th century Shroud of Josse from Iran.

Among the budding collection's most prized works were pietre dure vases and bronzes.

Among his most famous paintings, beside the two versions of the Pilgrimage to Cythera ( one in the Louvre, the other in the Schloss Charlottenburg, Berlin ), are Pierrot ( long identified as " Gilles "), Fêtes venitiennes, Love in the Italian Theater, Love in the French Theater, " Voulez-vous triompher des belles?

Among the notable buildings on whose design he worked are the Centre Pompidou, the Sydney Opera House, Lloyd's of London, the Louvre Pyramid, the Mound Stand at Lord's Cricket Ground, Kansai International Airport and Stansted Airport.

Among the pictures of his last years were the admired Battlepiece and Saul and the Witch of Endor ( latter perhaps his final work ) now in the Musée du Louvre, painted in 40 days, full of longdrawn carnage, with ships burning in the offing ; Pythagoras and the Fishermen ; and the Oath of Catiline ( Palazzo Pitti ).

Among his chief works are the Morning and Evening at the Louvre, and the early Crossing the Bridge in the Wallace Collection.

Among his models were Turenne, Molière, Bossuet, Maintenon ( in the Louvre ), La Vallière, Sévigné, Montespan, Descartes ( in Castle Howard ).

Among his other speeches and addresses may be mentioned a lecture on “ The Culture, the Support, and the Object of Art in a Republic ,” in the course of the New York Historical Society in 1852 ; and one on “ The Office, Appropriate Culture, and Duty of the Mechanic .”

Among Whewell's other works — too numerous to mention — were popular writings such as the third Bridgewater Treatise Astronomy and General Physics considered with reference to Natural Theology ( 1833 ), and the essay, Of the Plurality of Worlds ( 1853 ), in which he argued against the probability of life on other planets, and also the Platonic Dialogues for English Readers ( 1850 – 1861 ), the Lectures on the History of Moral Philosophy in England ( 1852 ), the essay, Of a Liberal Education in General, with particular reference to the Leading Studies of the University of Cambridge ( 1845 ), the important edition and abridged translation of Hugo Grotius, De jure belli ac pacis ( 1853 ), and the edition of the Mathematical Works of Isaac Barrow ( 1860 ).

Among other productions are Napoleon Awakening to Immortality ( Musée d ' Orsay, Paris ), the statue of the mathematician Gaspard Monge ( 1848 ), Jeanne d ' Arc, in the gardens of the Luxembourg ( 1852 ), a Calvary in bronze for the high altar of St Vincent de Paul ( 1855 ), as well as Hebe and the Eagle of Jupiter ( Musée des Beaux Arts, Dijon ), Love Triumphant and Christ on the Cross, all of which appeared at the Paris Salon of 1857 after his death.

Among these, the most well-known is the collection Études d ' Execution Transcendante ( final version published in 1852 ).

Among his other works were the remarkable Histoire de la philosophie scolastique ( 1872 – 1880 ); Les Mélanges poétiques d ' Hildebert de Lavardin ( 1852 ); an edition of the Works of Hugh of St Victor ( 1886 ); a critical study of the Latin poems attributed to St Bernard ( 1870 ); and Bernard Délicieux et l ' Inquisition albigeoise ( 1877 ).

Among such of his designs are four charming plates to Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol ( 1843 ), the broadly humorous etchings in the Comic History of England ( 1847 – 1848 ), and the still finer illustrations to the Comic History of Rome ( 1852 ) — which last, particularly in its minor woodcuts, shows some exquisitely graceful touches, as witness the fair faces that rise from the surging water in Cloelia and her Companions Escaping from the Etruscan Camp.

Among their joint compositions was " Bird of the North " ( 1852 ); and " Mother, Sweet Mother, Why Linger Away?

Among his other dramatic works were Joan Woutersz ( a drama, 1847 ), Twee Tudors (" Two Tudors ," 1847 ), Gondelbald ( 1848 ), Schuld en boete (" Guilt and Retribution ," a drama, 1852 ), Het Kind van Staat (" The State Child ," a dramatic fragment, 1859 ); Zege na strijd (" Struggle and Triumph ," a drama, 1878 ).

Among the crayon portraits were Cardinal Newman ( 1844 ), John Keble, Henry Hallam ( 1843 ), Charlotte Brontë ( 1850 ), Elizabeth Gaskell ( 1851 ), Lord Macaulay ( 1844 and 1850 ), Sir Charles Lyell ( 1853 ), Michael Faraday ( 1852 ), and Lord Lyndhurst ( 1847 ).

Among Hartmann's numerous works may be especially mentioned Der Krieg um den Wald ( The War over the forest ; 1850 ), a novel, the scene of which is laid in Bohemia ; Tagebuch aus Languedoc und Provence ( Diary from Languedoc and Provence ; 1852 ); Erzählungen eines Unsteten ( Tales of a restless person ; 1858 ); and Die letzten Tage eines Konigs ( The last days of a king ; 1867 ).

Among his principal works may be named England ( 1847 ); Home by the Sands, and a Squally Day ( 1848 ); Passing Showers ( 1849 ); The Wind on Shore, a First Glimpse of the Sea, and Old Trees ( 1850 ); A Mountain Lake, Moonrise ( 1852 ); Changeable Weather ( 1865 ); also the London Road, a Hundred Years ago ; The Weald of Kent ; the Valley Mill ( a Cornish subject ); a Shady Glen ; the Windings of a River ; the Shade of the Beech Trees ; the Course of the Greta ; the Wharfe ; Glendalough, and other Irish subjects, 1836 to 1840 ; the Forest Farm Frith for figures, and Ansdell for animals, occasionally worked in collaboration with Creswick.
