All ships at port are subject to inspection in accordance with Article 7, Antarctic Treaty.

He considered Article 7 of the constitution, which asserts freedom of speech, of more importance than Article 1, which forbids discrimination on the basis of religion, life principles, political inclination, race, or sexual preference.

Under Article 7 of the statute, torture may be considered a crime against humanity " when committed as part of a widespread or systematic attack directed against any civilian population, with knowledge of the attack ".

The charge is technically under Article 134 of the UCMJ ( Uniform Code of Military Justice ) which incorporates parts of the U. S. Code.

Article 12 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights incorporates this right into treaty law:

The 1982 state Constitution incorporates many provisions of the laws passed since 1978 and distinguishes between the functions of the state and of the party, mandating that " no organization or individual may enjoy the privilege of being above the Constitution and the law " ( Article 5 ).

In addition the Human Rights Act 1998 incorporates into British Law Article 4 of the European Convention on Human Rights which prohibits the holding of persons as slaves.

Indeed, the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms in Article 6 requires these features in the legal systems of its signatory states.

To consider but one example, the First Amendment to the United States Constitution states " Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof "— but interpretation ( that is, determining the fine boundaries, and resolving the tension between the " establishment " and " free exercise " clauses ) of each of the important terms was delegated by Article III of the Constitution to the judicial branch, so that the current legal boundaries of the Constitutional text can only be determined by consulting the common law.

The definition of what is a " crime against humanity " for ICC proceedings has significantly broadened from its original legal definition or that used by the UN, and Article 7 of the treaty stated that:

While popular debate remains on what constitutes a legal definition of torture ( see discussion on the Torture page ), the ban on corporal punishment simplifies the matter ; even the most mundane physical abuse is thereby forbidden by Article 32, as a precaution against alternate definitions of torture.

All persons partaking in the deliberations of parliament or in the parliamentary commission meetings have legal immunity regarding any communication they made, either in speech or in writing ( Article 71 ).

Any proposal of law in the broadest sense and any proposed treaty is in principle first submitted to the Council of State for legal comment ; this can be limited by formal law, which however only does so for trivial cases ( Article 73 ).
