In Season Eight ( 2007 – 11 ), it establishes Buffy is not living with the Immortal in Rome which is simply a cover story to ensure her safety as she is now the leader of a global organization which recruits and trains Slayers to deal with demonic threats worldwide.

Written by series writer Drew Goddard, " The Problem with Vampires " establishes his adventures in Prague prior to his introduction Buffy episode " School Hard ".

* This episode once again establishes Xander as the " heart " of the group, the one that can always grant emotional support to the others in the hard times, a role that was previously established in the Season 1 finale " Prophecy Girl " when Xander, who at the time had a crush on Buffy, revives her through CPR and in the Season 4 episode " Primeval " when Buffy, Willow, Giles and Xander all merge their psyches together in a spell with Xander representing " Animus ", the heart.

First forming in the Season One episode " The Harvest " to prevent The Master from opening a portal to hell, the line-up of the group varied from year to year, but the core that remained intact throughout the series ' run was Buffy herself and her best friends, Xander Harris and Willow Rosenberg, as well as her Watcher, Rupert Giles.

However, she often finds herself in perilous situations and relies on Buffy to save her.

Willow appears in every Buffy episode ( making her the only character besides Buffy herself to do so ), is featured in three episodes of the spinoff Angel, an animated series and video game — both of which use Hannigan's voice, and the comic Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Eight ( 2007 – 2011 ), which uses Hannigan's likeness and continues Willow's storyline following the television series.

In the second season when the characters are in 11th grade, Willow becomes more sure of herself, standing up to the conceited Cordelia Chase ( Charisma Carpenter ), and approaching Xander, on whom she has had a crush for years, although it is unrequited as Xander is in love with Buffy.

In the fifth season, this becomes a goddess named Glory ( Clare Kramer ) that Buffy is unable to fight by herself.

When Willow discloses to Buffy what she feels for Tara, she indicates that she has fallen in love with Tara, not that she is a lesbian, and avoids categorizing herself.

Displeased with how Willow abuses her power, especially toward herself, Tara leaves Willow while continuing to counsel Dawn and Buffy.

Distraught, Buffy smashes the seed herself.

When Buffy briefly finds herself endowed with telepathic powers, she ' hears ' her mother remembering that Giles was " like a stevedore " during sex.

She also is friendly with Spike, who is as protective of her as Buffy herself.

While helping Buffy battle demons in the season finale, Dawn proves herself to be capable in a fight, finally earning her sister's respect and a promise to train her.

Drusilla returns to Sunnydale in the episode " Crush " to persuade Spike to join Darla and herself in reforming their " family " unit, but instead, Spike seizes the opportunity to try to prove his love for Buffy by offering to stake Drusilla.

The next year brings the deaths of Joyce Summers and also Buffy herself, although Buffy manages to return from the grave.

When Angel tried to take Dana back to Wolfram & Hart, Andrew asserts his authority, standing up to Angel ( one of the few who do ) and explains that she belongs with them, not him, also revealing that the Scooby Gang no longer deems the Angel Investigations team trustworthy due to their association with Wolfram & Hart, Buffy herself having ordered Andrew not to leave Dana with Angel.

In the first season Buffy allies herself with a 242-year-old vampire named Angel ( David Boreanaz ).

Joss Whedon describes her as everything Buffy would never let herself become ; although Buffy is tempted by Faith's approach to slaying, she ultimately decides not to make the same choices herself.

Co-executive producer Doug Petrie, and writer of Faith-centric episodes such as " Revelations " and " Bad Girls ", says one of the things he loves about the character is that Faith is not wrong in describing herself and Buffy as killers.

At one point, she confronts Buffy in her own home, openly threatening to kill Buffy's friends and family and force Buffy herself to watch her do so.

He began to develop for television the concept of a fashion-conscious girl named Buffy, who is imbued with superhuman abilities and attends a high school situated on a portal to hell.

Willow was noted to be the spirit of the Scooby Gang, and Hannigan attributed Willow's popularity with viewers ( she had by May 1998 seven websites devoted to her ) to being an underdog who develops confidence and is accepted by Buffy, a strong, popular person in school.

Her relationships with Buffy and Xander become strained as they try to find their place following high school.

Willow becomes much more confident in college, finally finding a place that respects her intellect, while Buffy has difficulty in classes and Xander does not attend school.

The film, written by Joss Whedon, depicts Buffy as a shallow high school cheerleader who is informed by a man named Merrick ( Donald Sutherland ) that she has been chosen by fate to battle the undead.

In the final season of the show ( 2002 – 2003 ), things starts to come around for Buffy when Principal Robin Wood hires her as a school counselor for the newly-rebuilt Sunnydale High School and has repaired her relationships with Dawn and her friends.

Volume II of the similar series of novels Tales of the Slayer ( 2003 ) features two stories about Buffy ; the character battles a mummified spirit in Todd A. McIntosh's " All That You Do Comes Back Unto Thee ," while Jane Espenson's " Again Sunnydale " sees a season six-era Buffy sent back in time to high school, when her mother is still alive but Dawn does not exist.

Notably, Spike's first act in Sunnydale is to attack Buffy and a large group of people at her school, making his first appearance the deadliest of any of Buffys " Big Bads ", as he very nearly kills Buffy, but Buffy's mother distracts Spike long enough for Buffy to recover.

While the central concept behind Buffy was " high school as a horror movie " in small-town America, co-creators David Greenwalt and Whedon were looking to make Angel into a different " gritty, urban show.

While his demeanor is typically mild and polite, Giles is not above using raw violence to solve a problem, such as physically threatening Principal Snyder into readmitting Buffy to school after her expulsion (" Dead Man's Party "), pummeling Angelus senseless with a flaming baseball bat and burning down his hideout upon discovering that he had killed Jenny Calendar (" Passion "), manhandling Spike while ordering him to get over his feelings for Buffy (" I Was Made to Love You "), forcing Glory's minion Slook to talk by inflicting a painful-sounding injury offscreen (" Tough Love "), severely beating up Ethan Rayne for information (" Halloween "), and suffocating a critically injured Ben with his bare hands to keep Glory from awakening in his body.

During their time in high school, Buffy and her friends fight a number of vampires, most notably the Master, Spike, Drusilla, and ( when he had lost his soul ) Angel.

In the third season episode " The Wish ", arrogant school diva Cordelia Chase angrily wishes that Buffy Summers had never arrived in Sunnydale, and her wish is granted by vengeance demon Anyanka.

Xander is based in part on Whedon himself, particularly in his high school years ; as such, he is often the most geeky as well as witty and verbose of Buffy < nowiki >'</ nowiki > s characters.

" Brendon was attracted to the pilot script for Buffy because of how much he had hated high school.

Unlike the long line of Slayers before her, Buffy accomplishes this with the help of her friends ( dubbed the Scooby Gang ), including her Watcher, Giles, who is also the school librarian.

After completing high school, Dushku returned to acting with the role of Faith on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a Slayer much more troubled than the main character Buffy Summers.

However, the school board, as well as physical and professional threats from Rupert Giles, force him to allow Buffy to return.

A wealthy bachelor often dating socialites, he lives in a large apartment at 600 E. 62nd Street in Manhattan ( the address given by Mr. French when he registered Buffy and Jody for school ), and has a quintessential gentleman's gentleman, Giles French.

* In the television show Buffy the Vampire Slayer, when Buffy's mother thinks it would be best to send Buffy away to school, she picks up an application to Miss Porter's.

The WB's early programming included an abundance of teenage fare like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Smallville, Dawson's Creek, and One Tree Hill.

The Buffy series became extremely popular and earned a devoted fanbase ; Willow's intelligence, shy nature, and vulnerability often resounded strongly with viewers in early seasons.

He also wore a red long-sleeved shirt fairly often, particularly during the earlier seasons of Buffy, and a bright blue shirt early in Season 6 & 7.

Wesley matures significantly over the course of both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel ; in his early appearances he was largely cowardly and incompetent.

In this light, they analyze Joyce's actions as overprotective of Buffy in early seasons: her vigilance causes Buffy to need to sneak in and out of the house through her bedroom window.

His early roles included Zeph in Buffy the Vampire Slayer ( 1992 ).

Joyce did not expect to see Buffy home so early in the semester, and because of this she has been using her daughter's room as extra storage space for the gallery.

Joss Whedon wryly observes in the DVD commentaries that threatening Kaylee became a formula for drama, one he admitted using in early Buffy episodes, in which he would put Willow in danger to win over the viewers.

The most successful were Buffy the Vampire Slayer, featuring a dyed-in-the-wool idealist superhero who exists within a consciously humorous take on the horror genre, and Smallville, another Superman reincarnation, which portrayed the hero ’ s early years in a teen drama format which enjoyed a lengthy ten season run.
