The legal trademark on the term " Muppet " is currently held by The Muppets Studio, a wholly owned division of the Walt Disney Company, although Sesame Workshop and the Jim Henson Company continue to occasionally use the term on their characters with certain permissions from Disney.

By performing Gonzo as Charles Dickens as narrator, Goelz ( accompanied by Steve Whitmire as Rizzo the Rat, a pairing which would be repeated in subsequent productions ) largely dominated the Muppet side of the film, and received top billing as " Muppet Performer " ( a distinction which would continue through Muppet Treasure Island and Muppets from Space ) "... when we did The Muppet Christmas Carol, he developed a soulful side.

However, when it is discovered that the fans don't care about Tex's laws and will get the Muppets back on top without the theater or their name, Statler and Waldorf are happy again, and are last shown at the top of a building dancing and singing during the finale ( though Statler states that he and Waldorf are happier when the Muppets don't sing ).

Additionally, Bill Barretta recorded the vocals as Rowlf singing " The Christmas Party Sing-Along " for the 2006 The Muppets: A Green and Red Christmas album.

In the Muppets version of " Bohemian Rhapsody " at 00: 02: 25, the Snouths make a cameo appearance, singing the titular lyric.

Rizzo appears only as a background character in the most recent Muppet film, The Muppets, with no speaking dialogue, although he is seen singing along during the finale and is shown being held by Mary ( Amy Adams ).

* The Muppets performed this song for the 1993 album Muppet Beach Party, with Kermit the Frog singing the lyrics.

Kermit the Frog reprises the song in The Muppets, this time as a duet with Miss Piggy that leads in to the entire Muppet Family of the film singing together.

* Peggy Lee was known as " Miss Peggy Lee " or " Miss Peggy ," and was the inspiration for the Muppets ' Miss Piggy, a stylish self-assured blonde with a sense of romance.

In 1982, Clifton also appeared on The Fantastic Miss Piggy Show as the host's " new discovery ", although the other Muppets and host George Hamilton remained skeptical of Clifton's talent.

Short briefly revived the Ed Grimley role in his 1995 series The Show Formerly Known As the Martin Short Show, for a spoof of the comedy film Dave, and appeared again in a 1996 episode of Muppets Tonight, in which Grimley marries Miss Piggy to obtain an $ 85 inheritance from his deceased great-uncle.

Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes, John C. McGinley and Neil Flynn reprised their roles as J. D., Elliot Reid, Carla Espinosa, Perry Cox and the Janitor to make a cameo appearances in the 2003 Muppets film It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie, trying to reanimate Miss Piggy.

The Count made an appearance in the film The Muppets Take Manhattan at Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy's wedding, then in the Sesame Street movies Follow That Bird and The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland.

The idea of presenting the Muppets as children first appeared in a dream sequence in The Muppets Take Manhattan, released two months before Muppet Babies debuted, in which Miss Piggy imagined what it would be like if she and Kermit the Frog grew up together.

However, Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem backed Miss Piggy for a song in The Muppets ' Wizard of Oz and performed alongside Miley Cyrus in the Studio DC: Almost Live television special.

She briefly appeared in The Muppets as Miss Piggy's receptionist.

Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the Muppets then quote " Merry Christmas everyone.

* The Muppets sing " Home for the Holidays ," after Miss Piggy's grand belated arrival, then later " Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas " and " I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day " during the final medley.

In an episode of Muppets Tonight, Miss Piggy sees a gremlin outside on the wing of her plane, and pleads for help.

The game features Muppets created by Jim Henson in a series of carnival-inspired mini games searching for enough keys to rescue Miss Piggy from Dr. Grump.

In The Muppets ' Wizard of Oz, Glinda and the Good Witch of the North are again separate characters ( and the Good Witch of the North has the name Tattypoo ), although they are both played by Miss Piggy ( as are the two Wicked Witches ).

He also appears in 2011's The Muppets, though in keeping with that film's focus on the original Muppet Show cast, he has only a brief cameo role as Miss Piggy's dance partner.

Jim Henson's Muppets made three video cover versions of the song, on Sesame Street, episode 19 in 1969, The Ed Sullivan Show in October 1970, and The Muppet Show episode 312 in 1978, which was performed by Robin the Frog, Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy.

In the first episode of Muppets Tonight, Piggy gets jealous of Michelle Pfeiffer and sics the poodle on her during the finale.

The characters on Sam and Friends were forerunners of Muppets, and the show included a prototype of Henson's most famous character: Kermit the Frog.

When Jerry Nelson left the Muppets citing health reasons, Muppeteer Steve Whitmire ( also a puppeteer for Sesame Street ) took over adding yet another new role to his credits ; his first two were that of Kermit the Frog ( Jim Henson ) and Beaker ( Richard Hunt ).

* The Billy Crystal episode of Muppets Tonight featured a parody entitled " City Schtickers ," with Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear in Kirby and Stern's roles.

Though Kermit the Frog is often credited as the icon of Henson's Muppets, Rowlf was actually the first true Muppet " star " as a recurring character on The Jimmy Dean Show, first appearing in a show telecast on September 19, 1963.

Afterwards Rowlf leaves the bar and joins Kermit and the other Muppets on their trip to Hollywood in search of fame and fortune.

Rowlf appears in The Muppets, initially saddened he wasn't included in the montage depicting the principal Muppets being reunited ( Rowlf was asleep, and was simply woken up by Kermit and easily convinced to join the cause ), and helps rebuild the Muppet theater.

Of these two, only Clifford has remained a major character, having also appeared in The Muppets at Walt Disney World ; The Muppets Celebrate Jim Henson ; an appearance on The Arsenio Hall Show ; the albums Muppet Beach Party and Kermit Unpigged ; and the feature films Muppets from Space and The Muppets ' Wizard of Oz.

In November 2011, Brooks Brothers announced that it had designed a custom wardrobe for Kermit the Frog for the movie The Muppets.

That year, EM. TV sold the company's ownership of the Sesame Street Muppets to Sesame Workshop and sold the company's ownership of the Odyssey Channel and the Kermit Channel.

In 2001, Sesame Workshop bought the rights to all Muppets used on Sesame Street, except Kermit the Frog.

Because Henson had not created Kermit for the exclusive use of Sesame Workshop and Kermit was the main character of Muppets as well, his case would have required a special agreement.
