Hence, The Tyndale Bible, as it was known, continued to play a key role in spreading Reformation ideas across the English-speaking world and eventually, on the global British Empire.
Tyndale left for London in 1523 to seek permission to translate the Bible into English.
Most well known for his translation of the Bible, Tyndale was an active writer and translator.

In his prologue to his translation of the book of Romans, which was largely taken from the prologue of German Reformer Martin Luther, Tyndale writes that:
The first published use of the term " evangelical " in English was in 1531 by William Tyndale, who wrote " He exhorteth them to proceed constantly in the evangelical truth.

Tyndale and Coverdale
Coverdale is honoured together with William Tyndale with a feast day on the liturgical calendar of the Episcopal Church ( USA ) 6th October.
Here he met with the celebrated martyr William Tyndale, and Miles Coverdale, both voluntary exiles from their country for their aversion to popish superstition and idolatry.
Historians often tend to treat Coverdale and Tyndale like competitors in a race to complete the monumental and arduous task of translating the biblical text.
A. S. Herbert, Bible cataloguer, says of the Matthew Bible, " this version, which welds together the best work of Tyndale and Coverdale, is generally considered to be the real primary version of our English Bible ".
The English rendering was substantially based on the earlier translations by William Tyndale and Myles Coverdale ( more than 80 percent of the language in the Genevan Bible is from Tyndale ).
Elsewhere, however, the English wording of the Rheims New Testament follows more or less closely the Protestant version first produced by William Tyndale in 1525 ; though the base text for the Rheims translators appears to be the revision of Tyndale found in an English and Latin diglot New Testament, published by Miles Coverdale in Paris in 1538.
