The team was reactivated in winter 2003 after their city neighbour Atlético Celaya lost its license to CF Cuernavaca Colibries and moved to Primera División A, through the moving of CF La Piedad to Celaya.

The club returned in 1994 when the two second-division clubs Atlético Cuernavaca ( Morelos ) and Escuadra Celeste de Celaya ( Guanajuato ) merged.
