In 2002 the renamed BAE Systems resold HK to a group of private investors, who created the German group holding company ( HK Beteiligungs-GmbH ).

In 2000, HK was contracted to refurbish the SA80 rifle ( AR-18 based also used in the G36 ) for the British Army, since at the time HK was a subsidiary of BAE Systems who had acquired Royal Ordnance Factory.

However only ROF Glascoed is still open and is now part of BAE Systems.

The Edrington Group Whisky Bond has grown over the years and is still a major employer in the area while the shipyards have all gone with the exception the now BAE Systems yards at Scotstoun and Govan.

The site is still owned by BAE Systems, who in conjunction with Redrow Homes, have submitted locally controversial proposals to use a large part of this site for building new housing.
