Archaeological research since 2005 have discovered a section of the Achaemenid Shah's Road ( Rāh-e Shāhi — راه شاهی ) connecting Pasargadae to Persepolis, Susa and other regions of the Persian Empire.
This is exactly what the Apadana palace has: open ( columned ) verandas on three sides — a unique feature among all palace buildings at Persepolis.
Persepolis and symbol
Herzfeld believed the reasons behind the construction of Persepolis were the need for a majestic atmosphere, a symbol for their empire, and to celebrate special events, especially the " Nowruz ".
Anne Roes detected the symbol, which often appears with balls in the quadrants formed by the arms of the chi-cross, in standards represented on coins of Persepolis, and she suggested that early Christians endorsed its solar symbolism as appropriate to Christ, and suggested " although it cannot be proved, that in the white saltire of St. Andrew we still have a reminiscence of the old standard of the Persepolitan kingdom.
The ancient column from Persepolis serves as a symbol for the team.
