* One scene of the Batman: The Animated Series episode " Deep Freeze " had a group of robotic toys which all resembled classic comic book characters ; these included Bat-Mite, Mister Mxyzptlk, Streaky the Supercat, and Krypto.

After this, only three more Bat-Mite stories were published in the pre-Crisis DC Universe: two Bat-Mite / Mr. Mxyzptlk team ups in World's Finest Comics # 152 ( August 1965 ) and # 169 ( September 1967 ) ( which were not edited by Schwartz but by Mort Weisinger ), and " Bat-Mite's New York Adventure " from Detective Comics # 482 ( February – March 1979 ), in which the imp visits the DC Comics offices and insists that he be given his own feature in a Batman comic.

Letter columns and writer interviews suggest that Bat-Mite comes from there as well, although this has never been shown thus far in the comic stories themselves.

This version of Bat-Mite is powerful enough to regularly break the fourth wall and read to Batman his past, present, and future exploits from real world comic books, and make fun of real world comic convention fans.

* Superman and Batman: World's Funnest, featuring Mr. Mxyzptlk and Bat-Mite.

Bat-Mite and Mr. Mxyzptlk teamed up four times in the pages of World's Finest Comics to plague Superman and Batman together, as well.

In # 6 of the 1999 World's Finest miniseries, Mr. Mxyzptlk encountered Bat-Mite, shortly after being mistaken for him by Overdog.

Apart from World's Funnest, there has been no direct connection between Bat-Mite and Mr. Mxyzptlk.

In Superman / Batman # 52, Bat-Mite appears having had a bet with Mr. Mxyzptlk similar to that of World's Funnest.

There is a statue displaying the iconic image of Batman holding Jason's body at which Bat-Mite references the " A Death in the Family " saga.

In the post-Crisis issue Superman / Batman # 25, it was revealed that the Joker had gained Fifth Dimensional powers by maintaining the essence of Mr. Mxyzptlk from the earlier " Emperor Joker " storyline ; at the end, Bizarro was able to extract this latent magical essence from the Joker, which manifested in a form recognizable as Bat-Mite.

* 1959: Strange Days — Aliens in need of a champion ask Bat-Mite and Mr. Mxyzptlk to test each other's respective heroes ; fortunately, Batman and Superman trick the two imps into turning on each other and convince the aliens to take them instead.

As such, a Bat-Mite has been fully reestablished into the current continuity as an outgrowth of Mr. Mxyzptlk incubated within the Joker.

The Batman titles, under editor Jack Schiff, introduced the successful Batwoman, Bat-Girl, Ace the Bat-Hound, and Bat-Mite in an attempt to modernize the strip with non-science-fiction elements.

", Bat-Mite attempts to get the show cancelled and introduces a thinly-veiled analogy to Scrappy in Punchichi, the nephew of Ace the Bat-Hound.

When the Teen Titans animated season two, episode eleven, " Fractured ", introduced their version of Bat-Mite he stated that he was Robin's DNA buddy ( genetic twin ) and was given the more pronounceable nickname " Larry " by Beast Boy, after Larry had given the team his real name, Nosyarg Kcid or Dick Grayson spelled backwards.

Batman asks his 5th Dimension counterpart, Bat-Mite, if he is really an imp from the 5th Dimension or just a figment of his imagination.

Bat-Mite responds that the two are one and the same: the 5th Dimension is imagination.

He is mentioned by Batman in " Legends of the Dark Mite " when he learns that Bat-Mite is from the Fifth Dimension and that he tells Bat-Mite that a friend in Metropolis ( Superman ) had warned him about 5th dimensional beings.

In the episode, Bat-Mite ( voiced by Paul Reubens ) wants the show cancelled to usher in a new, darker Batman TV show.

* Bat-Mite: Batman's old antagonist / nuisance briefly returns as co-founder of the lunatic fringe movement dedicated to worshipping Superman called The First Church of The Last Son of Krypton.

After Bat-Mite sees the trailer for the new Batman series, Ambush Bug appears next to Bat-Mite stating that because the upcoming series will be dark, Bat-Mite won't be in it destroying this show's Bat-Mite in the process.

He is summoned by Bat-Mite to prove Batman's mettle in combat, but apparently was reading.

While in this story the post-Crisis Bat-Mite encountered Batman for the first time, Superman and Batman subsequently concluded that Mxyzptlk had created him, inspired by Overdog's ravings.

Later, when the Bat-Mite decides to assume the role of Batman himself, Batman talks the Mite through an encounter with Grodd ( who is disposed of by slipping on a banana peel, a play off of JLU Grodd's oft-noted distaste for the fruit ).

In 1964, however, when the Batman titles were revamped under new editor Julius Schwartz, Bat-Mite vanished along with the other extraneous members of the Batman family such as Ace the Bat-Hound.

After the continuity-changing 1985 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths was published, Bat-Mite was mostly removed from the Batman comics canon.

Bat-Mite made an appearance in the series Legends of the Dark Knight, although he may have been the hallucination of a drug-addled criminal named Bob Overdog.

When Bat-Mite wants to summon a villain for Batman to fight, the Dark Knight tricks him into summoning Calendar Man, then secretly tells the confused villain to play along and pretends to knock him out.
