More recent stories ( post-Crisis ) often feature the general public assuming that Superman has no secret identity due to the fact that he, unlike most heroes, doesn't wear a mask.

In post-Crisis continuity, Lois Lane, feeling that someone like Clark could not be Superman, never suspected the dual identity beyond one isolated incident before Clark finally revealed it to her.

** Dean Cain in the 1990s series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman showed Clark as a normal and shy everyman demonstrating occasional touches of clumsiness ( e. g., pretending to burn his mouth on coffee ), but still a highly skilled journalist, much like the current post-Crisis portrayal.

Just as the planet began to shake apart, he launched the matrix towards Earth, where it would open and give birth to the infant upon landing ( the post-Crisis Superman therefore was considered to be technically " born " on Earth ).

This was created to maintain the rule of Superman being the only Kryptonian survivor which was the theme of the post-Crisis Superman mythos.

He returns with the other heroes to the new post-Crisis Earth, taking the place of the Earth-One Superman.

DC Editorial wanted Superman to be the only surviving Kryptonian following DC's post-Crisis reboot of the Superman continuity.

However, finding no assurance that Ariella survived the restoration of post-Crisis history, a dejected Linda relinquishes the role of Supergirl, sends a farewell note to Superman, and leaves for points unknown.

* Laurel Gand ( Andromeda ) – Laurel Gand was the post-Crisis / Glorithverse replacement for the pre-Crisis Supergirl in the Legion of Super-Heroes after the latter was removed from the continuity following The Man of Steel reboot of Superman.

* Ariella Kent – Supergirl of the 853rd century, later revealed to be the daughter of post-Crisis Linda Danvers and Silver Age style Superman from the Many Happy Returns story arc.

In the post-Crisis DC Universe, the Phantom Zone first appears after Superman returns from space with a Kryptonian artifact called the Eradicator.

After a battle with the post-Crisis Superman-during which Superman is drastically overpowered by Superboy's pre-Crisis strength while managing to keep Superboy on his toes due to his superior experience -, Superboy realizes he can't turn on his friends and instead helps the Legionnaires defeat the Trapper.

Her post-Crisis incarnation first appeared in Superman ( volume 2 ) # 12 in December 1987.

Lori is one of several Superman characters with the alliterative initials " LL ", including Lex Luthor, Lana Lang, Linda Lee, Linda Lang ( Supergirl's latest secret identity ), Letitia Lerner, Lena Luthor ( Luthor's sister pre-Crisis, and daughter post-Crisis ), Lyla Lerrol, Liesel Largo, Lenora Lemaris ( one of Lori's sisters ), Leta Lal ( Lori's ancestor ), Lightning Lad, Lightning Lass ( sister of Lightning Lad ), Lightning Lord ( brother of Lightning Lad ), Lorraine Lewis ( scientist jealous of Lois Lane, Lana Lang and Lori Lemaris ), Lucy Lane, Luma Lynai, Lionel Luthor and Lois Lane.

When the boys confront Mxyzptlk, they realize that this was not the same Mxyzptlk whom Superman had regularly faced ; indeed, he appears to not have even assumed the name ' Mxyzptlk ' at this point, regarding it as sounding like something somebody randomly typed ( which is, indeed, how the character chose his name in his first post-Crisis appearance ).

Later stories revealed that elements of Brainiac's pre-Crisis history occurred in the post-Crisis character's history prior to his possession of Milton Fine and his first encounter with Superman.

It made its first proper appearance in John Byrne's The Man of Steel miniseries, which established the post-Crisis Superman setting.

Also, entries for characters such as the Silver Age Superman and Wonder Woman recounted their post-Crisis histories only, which at the time were only a few months old, while their entire Silver Age histories ( and all the unique elements of those characters during that time, such as Superman's Fortress of Solitude and Wonder Woman's powerless period ) were ignored.

The original Earth-Three Syndicate made a few post-Crisis appearances, when Ultraman and Power Ring appeared in the Animal Man series and then again in Infinite Crisis when Earth-Three was temporarily recreated and models of the Earth-Three Ultraman, Superwoman, and Alexander Luthor, Sr. were briefly merged with the Superman and Wonder Woman of Earth-1 and the Superman of Earth-Two and Wonder Woman of Earth-2.

Up until the Death of Superman event, DC Comics writers lived on a fixed set of rules when it came to how the post-Crisis Superman's powers were portrayed.

In a battle with Lobo, Superman discovered he could survive the vacuum of space indefinitely, something the post-Crisis Superman could not do before his death.

In post-Crisis / post-Zero Hour continuity, it was Loophole's " Stasis Zone " technology that exiled Mon-El, known in the new continuity as Valor / M ' Onel, into the Phantom Zone for a thousand years.

This story was later revised in the 1980s post-Crisis to edit out any reference to Bruce Wayne having ever called himself " Robin " or worn any costume before he finally donned his Batman costume as an adult.

The post-Crisis version of the character was introduced in the 1987 storyline Batman: Year One, written by Frank Miller.

Along with its contemporaries ( The Man of Steel, Batman: Year One, Aquaman Special # 1, and Green Lantern: Emerald Dawn ), Hawkworld was intended to revise DC Universe continuity for the post-Crisis continuity that explored the origins of the Silver Age Hawkman and Hawkwoman.

While in this story the post-Crisis Bat-Mite encountered Batman for the first time, Superman and Batman subsequently concluded that Mxyzptlk had created him, inspired by Overdog's ravings.

Bat-Mite also appeared in the 2000 one-shot Elseworlds comic special World's Funnest, in which he battles Mr. Mxyzptlk, destroying the pre-Crisis multiverse and the post-Crisis DC Universe, as well as the Elseworlds of Kingdom Come, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, and the DC animated universe.

However, the Silver Age Krypton made a rare post-Crisis appearance in The Sandman # 48, during a flashback sequence featuring Death and Destruction of The Endless, beings who were evidently unaffected by the reality-altering events of the Crisis.

Also in post-Crisis Krypton, this planet was located in a solar system within the Milky Way galaxy close enough that the radiation from the explosion ( traveling only at light speed ) was able to reach Earth ( Action # 600 ).

In Supergirl # 75 ( December 2002 ), detoured on her way to Earth, Kara Zor-El, the pre-Crisis Supergirl, arrives in post-Crisis Leesburg.

2 ) # 130-133 ( 1940s adventure by John Byrne, retroactively establishes Queen Hippolyta as the Golden Age Wonder Woman in post-Crisis continuity )

Justice Society of America Annual # 1 ( September 2008 ; titled JSA Annual # 1 in the comic's legal indicia ) featured the Justice Society Infinity, a team continuing from an analogous post-Crisis Earth-Two.

This post-Crisis version ( revealed in 1992's Justice League Quarterly # 8 ) was composed of Qwardians ( residents of the antimatter counterpart of Oa ) as well as being " more powerful than their counterparts " and " long gone " and shown to be different from the Earth-Three incarnation by their enlarged eyes reflective of the Weaponers of Qward.

The only other modern meeting of the team ( either in pre-or post-Crisis on Infinite Earths continuity ) took place in Infinity, Inc. # 11, in which the Vigilante, the Shining Knight, Green Arrow, Speedy and the Star-Spangled Kid gathered at the grave of Lee Travis, the man known as the Crimson Avenger.

The Shade's next appearance was in a flashback story in Secret Origins # 50 ( 1989 ), which presented a post-Crisis retelling of " The Flash of Two Worlds ".

He penciled Teen Titans Spotlight # 7 and # 8, before gaining more popularity among DC readers with his work on the relaunched, post-Crisis on Infinite Earths The Flash # 1.

In the post-Crisis Krypton, sexual reproduction was considered obscene, and thus, all children were conceived in birthing matrices.

A new Suicide Squad title was launched, and Captain Marvel was given his own new mini-series to establish his new post-Crisis origin.

* Wonder Woman of Earth-One was revealed to have not died, but instead sent backwards through time, de-aging in the process until she reverted to the clay she was originally sculpted from, and spread over Paradise Island ( this laid the groundwork for George Perez's reintroduction of Wonder Woman in the post-Crisis continuity ).

After the post-Crisis reboot in the late 1980s, Supergirl's origin was completely rewritten.

That was the only time the JLA had actually teamed up with the JSA post-Crisis until almost 10 years later ( see below in next article topic ).

Morrison was denied permission to use the name " Hawkman " by DC editorial, which still considered it " radioactive ", due to the complex post-Crisis continuity problems with the character.

Lori's post-Crisis origin story and her relationship with Clark remained similar to the original, except that post-Crisis, Clark had not yet adopted a superheroic identity at the time he was in college.

Over the course of the next several decades, there was a definitive summarization in the miniseries The World of Krypton in 1979 ( not to be confused with the post-Crisis on Infinite Earths late-1980s comic miniseries of the same name ).

In the post-Crisis on Infinite Earths DC Universe, Brainiac's history was completely rewritten.

The post-Crisis version of Brainiac was now a radical Coluan scientist called Vril Dox who, having attempted to overthrow the Computer Tyrants of Colu, was sentenced to death.

Some of the information contained in this book was post-Crisis instead of pre-Crisis.
