Like Alan Wilson, Duane Allman played a key role in bringing slide guitar into rock music, through his work with The Allman Brothers Band, specifically on the 1971 live album At Fillmore East and with Derek and the Dominos ' Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs album.

Duane Allman, later of Allman Brothers Band fame, once pitched a tent and camped out in the parking lot of FAME studios in an effort to be near the recording sessions occurring there.

Various other guitarists such as Frank Zappa, Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top, Brian May from Queen, Duane Allman from The Allman Brothers Band, Larry Carlton ( Kid Charlemagne 1976 ), and Leslie West from Mountain were using the two-handed tapping technique in the early and mid 1970s as well.

Eat a Peach is a 1972 double album by the American Southern rock group The Allman Brothers Band ; it was the last to include founding member and lead slide-guitar player Duane Allman, who was killed in a motorcycle accident on October 29, 1971 while the album was being recorded.

Duane became employed as a session musician at FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama and began to assemble the group that would become The Allman Brothers Band-Duane and Dickey Betts on guitars, Berry Oakley on bass guitar, and Butch Trucks and Jai Johanny " Jaimoe " Johanson on drums.

Among their members were two future members of the Allman Brothers Band ( Duane Allman and his brother Gregg ) and three future studio musicians at the world-renowned Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama ( Pete Carr, Johnny Sandlin and Paul Hornsby ).

With his brother back in Los Angeles, Duane Allman temporarily joined his bandmates in Muscle Shoals, eventually forming The Allman Brothers Band, enticing his brother back from Los Angeles.

The founders of Southern rock are usually thought to be the Allman Brothers Band, who developed a distinctive sound, largely derived from blues rock, but incorporating elements of boogie, soul, and country ; combining hard rock instrumentation and rhythms with accented vocals and Duane Allman's slide guitar.

" Little Martha " was the only Allman Brothers Band track written solely by group leader and partial namesake Duane Allman.

The song is played over the PA system after every Allman Brothers Band show as a tribute to Duane Allman.

Previously, Johnson worked with Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts of the Allman Brothers, co-writing the songs " Blind Love " and " Can't Take It with You " with Dickie Betts, which appeared on their 1979 album, Enlightened Rogues.

Gregory LeNoir " Gregg " Allman ( born December 8, 1947 in Nashville, Tennessee ) is an American rock and blues singer, keyboardist, guitarist and songwriter, and a founding member of The Allman Brothers Band.

In the meantime it had been re-recorded by Gregg and Duane's new band, The Allman Brothers Band and released on the Eat a Peach album in February 1972.

The Gregg Allman Band, also known as Gregg Allman & Friends, is a Southern rock / blues rock group that Gregg Allman established and has led since the 1970s, during periods when Allman has been recording and performing separate from the Allman Brothers Band and has chosen not to perform exclusively as a solo artist.

Such bottles eventually went out of production in the early 1980s, although replicas have been produced since 1985, including a copy of Allman's slide used by another Allman Brothers member, Derek Trucks, which was made of Dunlop Pyrex, giving the same sound as the glass slide, without the danger of shattering.
