Bursa () is a city in northwestern Turkey.

The city was referred to as " Hüdavendigar " ( meaning " God's Gift ") during the Ottoman period, while a more recent nickname is " Yeşil Bursa " ( meaning " Green Bursa ") in reference to the parks and gardens located across its urban tissue, as well as to the vast forests in rich variety that extend in the surrounding region.

Bursa is also home to some of the most famous Turkish dishes such as İskender kebap, specially candied marron glacés, peaches and lokum.

Bursa is home to the Uludağ University, and its population attains one of the highest overall levels of education in Turkey.

Bursa is settled on the northwestern slopes of Mount Uludağ in the southern Marmara Region.

İskender kebab is one of the most famous meat foods of northwestern Turkey and takes its name from its inventor, İskender Efendi ( İskender meaning ' Alexander '), who lived in Bursa in the late 19th century.

The most important mountain range is the ( so-called ) " Mysian " Olympus ( 8000 ft., 2500 m ), which towers above Bursa and is clearly visible as far away as Istanbul ( 70 miles, 113 km ).

Most fabrics manufactured in Turkey were made in Istanbul and Bursa, but some textiles came from as far away as Venice, Genoa, Persia ( Iran ), India and even China.

In recent decades many people from Ordu have migrated away to jobs in Istanbul, Bursa, Samsun, Sakarya or abroad.

Bursa became the first major capital city of the early Ottoman Empire following its capture from the Byzantines in 1326.

Bursa has hot, humid summers that last from June until September.

Apart from its large automotive industry, Bursa also produces a substantial amount of dairy products ( Sütaş ), processed food ( Tat ), and beverages ( Uludağ ).

/ Murat I ) ( March or June 29, 1326, Sogut or Bursa – June 15, 1389, Battle of Kosovo Polje ) () was the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, from 1361 to 1389.

Mehmed I Çelebi ( Ottoman: چلبی محمد, Mehmed I or Mehmed Çelebi ) ( 1390, Bursa – May 26, 1421, Edirne, Ottoman Empire ) was a Sultan of the Ottoman Empire ( Rûm ) from 1413 to 1421.

He restored the empire, moved the capital from Bursa to Edirne, and conquered parts of Albania, the Jandarid emirate, and the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia from the Mamelukes.

He was buried in Bursa, in a mausoleum erected by himself near the celebrated mosque which he built there, and which, from its decorations of green porcelain, is called the Green Mosque.

Such a privilege was reserved to devout religious leaders from the time Osman had established his residence in Konya in 1299, before the capital was moved to Bursa and later to Constantinople.

During the reign of Mehmed II, assistant cooks wore blue coloured dresses ( câme-i kebûd ), conical hats ( külâh ) and baggy trousers ( çaksir ) made from Bursa velvet.

The abbreviation " B " in B cell originally came from Bursa of Fabricius, an organ in birds in which avian B cells mature.

Courts was listed on the Main Board of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange ( now known as Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad ) on October 11, 2000 and delisted again from bursa Malaysia 3 September 2007 markets following the completion of ownership engagement with Malaysia Retail Group.

The domed architectural style evolved from Bursa and Edirne.

He was then transferred from the prison in Bursa first to the infirmary of Sultanahmet Jail in Istanbul and later to Paşakapısı Prison.
