Chhath (, also called Dala Chhath ) is an ancient Hindu festival dedicated to the Hindu Sun God, Surya, also known as Surya Shashti.

During the festival of Chhath, thekua, a sweet dish made of ghee, jaggery, whole-meal flour, flavoured with aniseed, is made.

It is surrounded by a pond which is used by devotees during Chhath Puja for worshipping of Sun.

Indian Express once wrote-“ He is the one who introduced Chhath Puja to the city of Mumbai which became a part of the festival calendar of Mumbai over a period of time .”

This tradition of praying to Surya is still carried out in parts of Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh in the form of Chhath Puja.
