I know a guy named Jack Hamrick, a very bright young engineer who was with Chrysler, and I took him with me to Allstates.

In 1959, he was hired to work as a model and to do commercial work for General Motors and Chrysler.

Chrysler bought out AMC in 1987, shortly after the Jeep CJ-7 was replaced with the AMC-designed Jeep Wrangler or YJ.

In 1929, the Chrysler Building was capped with Krupp steel.

On 4 January 1977, Montoneros guerrillas shot and killed Private Guillermo Félix Dimitri of the 10th Mechanized Infantry Brigade on a drive-by shooting while he was on roadblock duty outside the Chrysler factory in the San Justo suburb of Buenos Aires.

An example of this would be the takeover of Chrysler by Daimler-Benz in 1999 which was widely referred to as a merger at the time.

Full-time all-wheel drive was introduced to North American minivans in 1990 with the Ford Aerostar's E-4WD option, followed in 1991 by the Toyota Previa All-Trac, and in 1992 on models made by Chrysler.

Unlike their European counterparts, manual transmissions have disappeared due to lack of demand ; 1995 was the last year for a manual transmission in the Ford Aerostar and Chrysler minivans while GM had previously discontinued the manual transmission in the Chevrolet Astro and GMC Safari.

The DKW Schnellaster, manufactured from 1949 to 1962 was a small monospace ( or one-box ) design featuring its front wheels set forward of the passenger cabin, a short, sloping aerodynamic hood, front-wheel drive, transverse engine, flat load floor throughout with flexible seating and cargo accommodations – the key design ingredients that describe the modern minivan configuration popularized in such notable examples as the Renault Espace and Chrysler Voyager / Caravan minivans.

A European minivan design was conceived in the late 1970s by the Rootes Group in partnership with the French automaker Matra ( which was also affiliated with Simca, the former French subsidiary of the Chrysler Corporation, sold in 1977 to the PSA Group ).

In 1966 Chrysler sold enough of the 426 Hemis to make it available again, and they put it in their new Dodge Charger which had a low-drag rear window that was radically sloped.

A detailed study into SSTO vehicles was prepared by Chrysler Corporation's Space Division in 1970 – 1971 under NASA contract NAS8-26341.

In the original script, the Dude's car was a Chrysler LeBaron, as Dowd once owned, but that car was not big enough to fit John Goodman so the Coens changed it to a Ford Torino.

Chrysler was the only contractor from Michigan, but Medaris persuaded Brucker to leave the decision entirely in the hands of the ABMA.

The brand was sold to Chrysler Corporation in 1928, passed through the short-lived DaimlerChrysler merger of 1998 – 2007 as part of the Chrysler Group, was a part of Chrysler LLC owned by Cerberus Capital Management, a private equity investment firm, and is now a part of the Chrysler Group LLC, which has an alliance with Fiat.

Eventually Dodge was sold to Chrysler Corporation in 1928.

Chrysler had also been developing a minivan based on the Chrysler K platform, releasing the boxy Dodge Caravan / Plymouth Voyager earlier than the Espace, in 1983.

In fairness, this was true of most American automakers at the time, but Chrysler was also not in the best financial shape to do anything about it.

The Caravan not only helped save Chrysler as a serious high-volume American automaker, but also spawned an entirely new market segment that remains popular today: the minivan.

The merger was also the subject of a book Taken for a Ride: How Daimler-Benz Drove Off With Chrysler, ( 2000 ) by Bill Vlasic and Bradley A. Stertz.

Through most of its history, Chrysler has been the third largest of the " Big 3 " U. S. automakers, but in January 2007, DaimlerChrysler, excluding its luxury Mercedes and Maybach lines, also outsold traditionally second place Ford, though behind General Motors and Toyota.

Electroluminescent automotive instrument panel backlighting, with each gauge pointer also an individual light source, entered production on 1960 Chrysler and Imperial passenger cars, and was continued successfully on several Chrysler vehicles through 1967.

This is also helped by the additions of the Brighton Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep Dealership, Superior Cadillac-GMC, Brighton Honda, Brighton Ford-Mercury, Consumers Suzuki and Champion Chevrolet Brighton-Howell.

For instance the Simca 1307 was launched in Britain as the Chrysler Alpine, while the Horizon was also sold as a Chrysler in Britain and on the American market it was marketed as the Dodge Sunbeam.

Simca vehicles were also manufactured by Simca do Brasil in São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil, and Barreiros ( another Chrysler subsidiary ) in Spain.

They were also assembled in Chile, Colombia and the Netherlands during the Chrysler era.

Eagle also lacked the heavy advertising of the other Chrysler brands.

Until the Chrysler purchase, Jeep's logo also featured the AMC emblem.

Like the older Brampton plant ( see " Former Factory Facilities ", below ), this factory was also part of American Motors Canada, Inc., and with the Chrysler buy-out in 1987, became part of Chrysler Canada Limited.

* Guelph Products – An AMC division ( also part of AMC Canada, Ltd .) in Guelph, Ontario ; opened in 1987, and subsequently sold by Chrysler in early 1993 ; the operation supplied moulded plastic components to the Brampton Assembly Plant.

Under C-W's guidance, Studebaker-Packard also sold the old Detroit Packard plant and returned the then-new Packard plant to its lessor, Chrysler.

* The Chrysler Sebring's ( and its successor the Chrysler 200's ) retractable hardtop also is marketed alongside a soft-top.

During this period, Clark also appeared in print and radio ads for the Coca Cola Corp., television commercials for Plymouth automobiles, print and TV spots for Burlington Industries, television and print ads for Chrysler Sunbeam, and print ads for Sanderson Wallpaper in the UK.

Given the newly revived muscle car climate, it was also overshadowed by the Chrysler 300, the Dodge Charger, Dodge Magnum and the new Ford Mustang, which all featured more traditional " muscle " aesthetics, even though the GTO outclassed them in performance.

At the time of Daimler's takeover of Chrysler, Plymouth had no unique models besides the Prowler not also available in the Dodge or Chrysler lines.

Subsequently, Chrysler and Hyundai considered a joint venture that would have Chrysler rebranding the Sonata manufactured at Bromont – only to later announce the deal had failed.

Chrysler built fifty Chrysler Turbine Cars in 1963 and conducted the only consumer trial of gas turbine-powered cars.

But because of the expense, the brakes were only standard on the Chrysler Crown Imperial through 1954 and the Town and Country Newport in 1950.

" However, he thought enough of genealogy to include in his autobiography that his father, Hank Chrysler, " Canadian born, had been brought from Chatham, Ontario, to Kansas City when he was only five or six.

Frustrated by seeing his scripts divested of political statements and ethnic identities ( and having the Chrysler Building removed from a script sponsored by Ford ), Serling decided the only way to avoid such artistic interference was to create his own show.

* Eagle Wagon ( 1988 model-year only under Chrysler Corp .)

American Motors had phased out domestic built passenger cars after 1983 and their dealer sales and service expertise was focused on the higher margin 4WD vehicles. Thus Eagle became retracted from the market with only one model going to Chrysler.

In 1991, Chrysler sold its equity stake in Diamond-Star Motors to its partner, and from then on they continued to share components and manufacturing on a contractual basis only.

While some have said that Congress lent Chrysler the money, the government only guaranteed the loans.

By the late 1990s, only four vehicles were sold under the Plymouth name: the Voyager / Grand Voyager minivans, the Breeze mid-size sedan, the Neon compact car, and the Prowler sports car, which was to be the last model unique to Plymouth, though the Chrysler PT Cruiser was conceived as a concept unique to Plymouth before production commenced as a Chrysler model.

Following the 2001 model year, the Neon was sold only as a Dodge in the US, though it remained available as a Chrysler in Canadian and other markets.

* 1996: In an attempt to move Plymouth downmarket, Chrysler makes the redesigned Voyager only available in base and mid-level SE models.

However, the Grand Marquis remained in production ; in contrast to the Dodge Charger selling nearly as well as its Chrysler 300 counterpart, the Montego sold only a fraction in comparison to its Ford Five Hundred counterpart and was also outsold by the Grand Marquis as well.

Chrysler had updates of the Plymouth Voyager in 1996 for the 1997 model year and the Chrysler Town & Country in 1997 for the 1998 model year, prior to the 1998 – 2007 DaimlerChrysler era ; it was the only exterior update of the NS Dodge Caravan.

Beginning with Generation V in model year 2008, Chrysler only made the long wheelbase Grand Caravan.

Some early GMs equipped with HYDRA-MATIC transmissions used ( S ) to indicate Second gear, being the same as the 2 position on a Chrysler, shifting between only first and second gears.

AMC's President George W. Romney came to the conclusion that the only way to compete with the " Big Three " ( General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler ) was to stake the future of AMC on a new smaller-sized car line.

The most famous American passenger car application was the Chrysler system used beginning with the 1957 model year, although Chrysler's " Torsion-Aire " suspension was only for the front ; the same basic system ( longitudinal mounting ) was maintained until the 1981 introduction of the K-car.
