* α CVn ( Asterion, Cor Caroli ) is the constellation's brightest star, named by Sir Charles Scarborough in memory of King Charles I, the deposed king of Britain.

Both are white A-class magnetic spectrum variable stars with strong metallic lines, similar to Cor Caroli.

It can be a challenge to locate through the technique of star hopping, but can be found by looking almost exactly halfway along an imaginary line connecting the bright star Arcturus to Cor Caroli.
